Yo Obama! I want my $1,000 back!
Dug deep in 2008, could have used the cash to take a family vacation for a weekend in San Diego, could have taken a buddy to a once in a lifetime trip to Pebble Beach, could have bought Season tickets for my favorite college team.

Point being I didn't.

I invested in you.

Keep the cash, my mistake, in 2012 I will invest the 1k in money to take my family to Europe.

Don't take it personal, it is a pure business decision. Where will I have the potential to place my hard earned money that will benefit my kids?

At this point it is an easy call.

4. Not sure if you are serious!
But I am pissed.

Hey I expected some B.S.

Some things I will pass on, but not fighting for tax increases TWICE! And not explaining the reason why TWICE is unacceptable.

I will fight for the dude, but at some point the dude has to be willing to fight.

If he choses not to fight, then why would I fight for him?

27. Same here.
I'm starting to have a better understanding of people who are fooled by any of the various liars and posers across the political spectrum.

Since I am clearly one of those people too.

5. You're not going to get very far on $1,000 in Europe.
Let's say you're a family of 4: Airfare at $1700 or so a pop for summer fares (that's $6,800 right there). You squeeze everyone into a single hotel room at a moderately priced place in Paris or Rome for a week in which your children complain the showers are like out of a snuff film (minimum $2,000). Meals--well, let's just say don't go to London, and exchange rates are pretty bad. A few hours at the Louvre at 10 euros each ($14 x 4), plus lunch and a book. Multiply that times 7 days for tourism activities. We're only scratching the surface here.

You're going to spend ten to twelve times the amount of your donation for a family of four for a week in Europe. But I hope you have fun and drink some good wine. I've got a good restaurant for you in Prague.

9. agreed
The point is not to pay for a European vacation.

but I will save my 1k donation to Obama!

It appears to be a short term win/win.

Sad to say, in 2008 I was looking at it as an investment.

6. I knew better. I only contributed $50.
I of course was a Kucinich supporter.

I remember walking out of a Obama rally in Reno NV because Obama once again spouted the insulting lie that there is 'clean coal'.

But I donated $50 just so I could say I 'supported' the Dem candidate.

7. Me too!!
The only time I have been conned by a pol of $1000 in my nearly 60 years of life.

My life is much more dire than the OP as I walked the walk and talk of my idealism as a Fed, corporate, entrepreneur, and academic and now am less secure than I have ever been in my life as my health fails.

11. This is why I don't donate.
I have better things to do with my hard-earned money then to give it to politicians. They do just fine on their own, without my help. Bad attitude? Maybe. But what if everyone thought like this? Well, special interests give more than enough money to compensate for the 10 or 20 bucks that I would be able to give.

17. I still remain optimistic....
(Not about our pResident), but I won't let myself become apathetic to the political process. I will still continue to fight for progressive causes. Please don't stop contributing or supporting causes like the environment, reproductive rights, and financial regulation.

15. I actually gave more than twice that much.
Never did anything like that before; never will again. I, too, thought it was an investment in our
country, our future. It seemed so easy and so right at the time. I started in early 07 and
continued through the general.

Many times in the last two years I have said I wished I had that money back. You are right there
were so many bette,r more fun things I could have done with it.

Sad it turned out to be for naught or worse.

16. And to answer the questions of the douchenozzles in you campaign
Who will state "Fuck the 1K" why do we care? We have 10k donors, or 100k donars, or 1,000,000 donors, fuck him.

Well the 1k guy busted his ass on the phones for you.

So did that 1k guy deliver the votes to put me over the top? It appears that the margin of error was very small, do we really want to piss off these little piss ants? Hint - you already did.

They came back a month later 12k shorter.

If you do decide to move to a different first world country make sure you have a job first, or at least are "highly skilled".

No one wants us proles.

people? Do they deserve their money back too? There's not much more than hatred hatred hatred on DU these days. It's incredible.

I guess everybody that's been to Vegas should line up and ask for their money back.

This is one of the stupidest posts.

31. The good News is...
that anyone who gave money or time to the Chump in 2008 is now expendable. This is why the Chump and his happy little band are planning to raise a BILLION dollars this election cycle.. From Corporate interests, PAC's and 527's

Good luck folks,
we're all going to need it.
