Both sides need to acknowledge reality
this is not a victory, the spending cuts though they are backloaded will hurt our struggling economy. It's also not the end of the world , it is not a massive betrayal we protected our social safety net and unlike before thanks to the trigger we have a bargaining chip in defense cuts that we didn't have during negotiations over the tax cuts and the debt ceiling. We also need to remember that much of this depends of how do in 2012 the the vast majority of triggered cuts won't happen until after 2013. If Democrats regain the House we can reverse the discretionary spending cuts, if the GOP keeps the House and takes the WH we can kiss the defense cuts and a lot more goodbye.
