CNN works hard to elevate Rush Limbaugh's comments today.
Washington (CNN) - Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh offered a vigorous defense of himself and Sarah Palin Monday in response to claims from some media commentators and those on the left that some of their charged statements and colorful language may have inspired the Arizona shootings.

" is unnecessarily stirring up the country in ways that don't merit," Limbaugh said on his radio program Monday. "It's fatuous and silly to even verify and justify these accusations by defending them. The premise is insane, it's silly, it's beneath these people. Or is it? It is who they are."

Limbaugh's comments come in response to accusations that the charged political atmosphere of 2010 – of which Limbaugh, Palin, and others played a central role – may have incited the use of violence among troubled individuals like Jared Lee Loughner, the suspect that is accused of opening fire outside a Tucson supermarket, where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was meeting with constituents Saturday

There are absolutely no comments from liberals treated as front page news.

8. I think it says volumes (pun intended)
... that he feels the need to bloviate in his own defense and play victim. You know, methinks he doth protest too much and all that?

Way to out yourself as knowing that you're responsible, Rush. :hurts: D'oh!

13. Yes, Limbaugh, your fans are listening to you.
They come away with the idea that people are ready to pick up arms. That talk is meant to intimidate us and also, encourages rightwingers who are on the edge. And don't pretend it doesn't happen. If I hear these conversations with my limited access to right-wingers, then I know you must be hearing it too.

14. Did he say anything about the victims?
The only thing he's worried about is money. If he didn't have Democrats to attack, he'd be a poor man. He's their Goebbels and they pay him well for his efforts. But, even Republicans I know can't stand him and agree that this kind of hate radio is bad for the country. The audience he has left comes from the fringes of society. Most sane people on both sides, tuned him out long ago.

He doesn't have much influence. He had two failed TV shows demonstrating that when he tried reaching a broader audience, he was rejected. He shares the same audience with Palin/Fox et al.

17. Limbaugh gets paid to shake the crazy tree ... and he knows it.
So now he either has to admit the role of his own rhetoric in this, and shut up ... or, go on the offensive.

And Rush is nothing if not offensive.

18. Theres really not much difference between.....
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 02:47 PM by Trey9007
RW talk show hosts and those radical Islamic clerics you see in the Middle East. They both serve the same purpose, take advantage of the weak minded people that have strong passionate feelings on a topic. The one thing the RW'ers do different, is that they have mastered the art of saying things without sometimes saying them. Although, it's pretty obvious Obama's Presidency has embolden them to increase the times they come straight out with some of their ill thoughts.

Go for it!

I sent out 5 emails to them yesterday for their biased coverage. We need to stay on them.
