The Democrats are in control of 2/3 of the Legislative Process of Government.

And we still couldn't and wouldn't control the message

8. It is difficult to get a message out through the corporate media
Not many people get to hear Peter Defazio talk, for example.

However, it's possible if you're the President of the United States. The media show your speeches. You do not have to parrot right-wing talking points when you're at the podium.

4. If one side truly believed in their message it becomes part of the debate
But....... if that same side actually believes in the message from the other side they'll stay quiet.

This entire phony crisis shows which message "our" side truly believes in.

21. Yeah? What did she mean by this:
"The Democrats are in control of 2/3 of the Legislative Process of Government."

WTF is that supposed to mean?

The Democrats are a significant minority in the House, and BARELY a majority in the Senate. How does that equal 2/3? Is that new math?

What's the "obvious" meaning? Please, do go on.

30. What was the "typo"?
Did you mean that less than 1/2 of the legislature is controlled by the Democrats?

The time to have controlled the message was this past November...not yesterday.

14. The problam, as usual, is that in the Senate, any ONE Senator can stop legislation..
The biggest problem right now is that the Pubs have fallen for the threat of the TPers. That relatively small group of nutballs have threatened the other Pubs with primarying them if they didn't go along with the TB agenda and at least for now, most of them are going along.

I'm waiting to see if they continue to threaten Boner for his agreement on the debt ceiling.

17. I think that they controlled the message just fine!!! and
they accomplished exactly what they wanted to. Nothing else makes any sense.

The leader led and the "New Dems" followed just as was planned. There are now more "New Dems" than there are "democratic policy Dems".

Makes me sick but our party no longer stands for what it use to stand for. Our party is now Republican lite imho.

....this confusing phenomena if DU had an Apology Forum....

....whenever Dem politics became illogical or disjointed we could click on the Apology Forum and the Party apologists and sympathizers could explain the contradictory events to rest of us....

27. It's because teachers should not join unions because unions lead to higher unemployment
If you think about it like a Tea Party person, it's the unions that caused the financial crisis that we are in today to begin with.

Union carpenters, union plumbers, and union electricians caused the houses to cost more to build, causing the housing crisis all by themselves, which lead to the financial crisis that almost brought down the totally innocent banking system, which is why they have to scuttle Social Security now.
To pay for the bonuses the bankers deserve for doing all of that hard work.

It's all the fault of 1 union teacher!!

28. what's really sad to me is that it didn't have to happen at all.
when the President was negotiating the bu$h* tax cuts he should have made raising the debt ceiling a part of the deal as many said.

he was naive in thinking that the republicons would 'do the right thing'....imho
