Here's how it works (this can apply to damn near any incident the RW and Corporate Media want to minimize - think the Gulf Oil Spill):
The big PR problem for RW liars, propagandists and corporations is twofold: size/intensity and immediacy (the "in-your-face" of the event).
For them, there is a tremendous importance to occupying the psycholinguistic high ground as early as possible. Considering the advanced stage of their propaganda amchine and the way it leads and mostly controls the Corporate Media and National Dialog, they are already halfway complete these days, even before anything happens. Our language has been twisted, debased and altered by the RW in very much the same way Orwell prophesied. Because our Democratic "Leadership" either has no clue or doesn't care (whichever, the results are the same) there is no way possible for leaderless citizens tocombat such ruthless and shameless propaganda power.
Reality melts like mozarella cheese before it. But I digress. Basically, for Nazis on the Right or Communists on the Left, loss of control of the national dialogue is a disaster for the clock is ticking on people waking up the longer they are left without their authoritarian propaganda.
Once said RW Corporate Authoritarian propaganda is in place, the national dialogue is under control, even if it bucks and rears a little at first. And once the story/event can be sluiced down one of the pre-fabricated propaganda channels dug into the brains of every American by RW and Corporate repetition repetition, it's pretty much over.
For research shows that the walls of those RW propaganda canyons are well-designed and deep. Like all cults, those who fall in rarely can find their way back out.
Which brings us up to date. The RW lost their control of Corporate Media, as they do during these big shocking events, like Bush's deliberate mismanagement of Katrina. But it has always been easy for the RW to reel it's unruly Corporporate charge back into the fold. For the RW, there are almost no standards of factuality, no matter how many times they fool the Corporate Media.
100 liberal truths are blasted apart by one conservative lie in our RW Lie Machine/Corporate Media, no matter how demontsrable the truths nor how obvious false the RW Big Lie.
You say it will take awhile for the truth to come out. (like Adkisson's Hannity-like letter was somehow suppressed until the LAST DAY, not of the trial but of SENTENCING!)
The RW is OK with that. It will come out after the "key initial story breakage" and this is a time-tested formula the Bushies have used to great success over and over again.
Anything that comes out months later will be a brief "whispered retraction" not repeate dor harped on, which from a RW liars' advertising/PR perspective, is almost as good as the truth not getting out at all, since statistically, it still hasn't.
Maybe the Loughner case, being so heinous, can break that pattern, but I seriosuly doubt it. Not from what I have seen literally hundreds of times since the stolen election of 2000, this RW propaganda pattern successful over and over and over again. Plus, it is clear that there are still PLENTY of sympathetic Bushie prosecutors and LE types who will be happy to suppress evidence until even releasing won't cause a stink, like they did with Adkisson's letter.
Maybe this will be different. Maybe THIS time Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the ball?
