Politico: Does it seem like there are far more right wingers there?
What do you guys think? I used to love the back and forth debate there-but these days it seems like every article is deluged with comments from right wing wackos which outnumber the saner posts from progressives by a good margin.

I don't enjoy much the debates there anymore. Anybody else feel that way?

5. Can I ask why you would say that?
Edited on Thu Jul-28-11 11:27 AM by jzodda
It used to be a great place for argument and discussion. Not of late but I am curious as to why you would say that.

I have loads of self respect for myself :D and used to enjoy the back and forth there. I LOVE to argue politics, especially with the other side. Now its kind of insane there though.

6. LOL - and I respect you too!!

To me, Politico always seems right-leaning and they appear to latch onto whatever is "popular", ie, making the most noise at the moment; in this case teabaggers and hard right repugs.

7. that and other D.C. websites
like "The Hill". It almost seems coordinated. Like if I read the comments in my local Florida newspapers websites you get a fair amount of right-wingers, but on Politico and "The Hill" it's a deluge like you say.

9. Politico was founded by right wingers to advance the right wing agenda.
They are Talon News without the unsavory reporters. They are a kinder, more literate Fox Nooz. But make NO mistake: Their ends and your ends are diametrically divergent.

26. A liddle more background for ya:
Before they went live, there was this: http://www.jprof.com/newswebsites/launchingpolitico.html

In it, they mention the money men behind it, Albritton Communications.

Now use the Google Machine to churn and follow *that* nefarious, shadowy, right wing trail.

14. Here's an article that explains the U.S. TREND towards right wingerism:
(And by the way, I blame American Christian churches for serving as meeting houses of right wing ideology, becoming the propaganda arm of the right wing party, and promoting it).

HOW DID THE U.S. BECOME THE MOST RIGHT WING COUNTRY IN THE WESTERN WORLD?

By suppressing the power of unions and transferring it to corporations.

In the early history of America, the corporation played an important but subordinate role. The people — not the corporations — were in control. So what happened? How did corporations gain power and eventually start exercising more control than the individuals who created them?

The shift began in the last third of the nineteenth century — the start of a great period of struggle between corporations and civil society. The turning point was the Civil War. Corporations made huge profits from procurement contracts and took advantage of the disorder and corruption of the times to buy legislatures, judges and even presidents. Corporations became the masters and keepers of business. President Abraham Lincoln foresaw terrible trouble. Shortly before his death, he warned that "corporations have been enthroned . . . . An era of corruption in high places will follow and the money power will endeavor to prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people . . . until wealth is aggregated in a few hands . . . and the republic is destroyed.

considered the local political paper of record. :puke::puke:

tea party when they were first put together by Dick Armey...I'm sure they were part of the initial start of it too. They also really pushed Palin into the limelight - they loved her.

23. Secret RWers forced to be "balanced" at WaPost quit and start their own site
where they can pretend to be objective journalists, while skewing everything to their right wing ideology.

That's Politico. Paid for by RWers, too.

24. I joined Politico..
in March '08...I've been booted 3 times..I'm on my fourth id. I agree it used to be fun to go back and forth with the other side. But now it's nothing but freakin' right wing wackos. It started right about the time Drudge and Freerepublic started linking to Politico stories. They were came over like roaches.

It isn't as much fun and quite honestly I now give as much as I get. Wonder if I know who you are over there...

31. They are getting crazier every month
These freeper/druge nutsos. I think that the number of true crazies posting there has multiplied like 10x over the past half year or so. I think a good deal of the problem is that many of these crazy wackos have nothing to do all day and so their names keep coming up over and over again for each article as they fight with 10 people at once.

My user is Zodden there. I don't post all that much really. What happens is usually I am so disgusted by the time I get to comment 10 that I move on. lol
