Just saying, the justice system gives guys like this more than one chance.

I have always figured this guy had skeletons in his closet...little did I know that he is a dick and doesn't pay his child support.

He's keeping as much money for himself as he possibly can. No Taxes, No Child support, no fair wages for the pee ons that do the actual work in this country, just more money for "me, me, me, me. "

Very fiscally conservative!

5. Tea Party Rep. Joe Walsh sued for $100,000 in child support
http://www.suntimes.com/6720892-417/tea-party-rep.-joe-walsh-sued-for-100000-in-child-support

Freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, a tax-bashing Tea Party champion who sharply lectures President Barack Obama and other Democrats on fiscal responsibility, owes more than $100,000 in child support to his ex-wife and three children, according to documents his ex-wife filed in their divorce case in December.

... In court documents, after his ex-wife asked a judge to suspend his driver’s license until he paid his child support, Walsh asks his ex-wife: “Have you no decency?”

... In 2004, Laura Walsh complained in a motion that despite her ex-husband’s claims of poverty, he took a vacation to Mexico with his girlfriend and another to Italy. The following year, he complained in a court filing that his ex-wife mailed him a motion while she knew he was in Nicaragua doing charitable work with one of their children.

In her December filing, Laura Walsh’s attorneys wrote, “The apparent availability of large sums of money from either his employment, his family or his campaign has allowed him to live quite a comfortable lifestyle, while at the same time, due to his failure to pay child support or any of his share of the education costs or medical expenses, Laura and his children were denied any of these advantages.”

22. "Have you no decency"? Isn't that rich?
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 10:34 PM by blue neen
Meanwhile:

"So she was surprised to read in his congressional campaign disclosures that he was earning enough money to loan his campaign $35,000."

“Joe personally loaned his campaign $35,000, which, given that he failed to make any child support payments to Laura because he ‘had no money’ is surprising,” Laura Walsh’s attorneys wrote in a motion filed in December seeking $117,437 in back child support and interest. “Joe has paid himself back at least $14,200 for the loans he gave himself.”

Typical teabagging, holier-than-thou, self-serving, sanctimonious, lying, right-wing HYPOCRITE.

What in hell was he spending his income on that he didn't pay child support???

GOD I want this motherfucker in handcuffs and perp-walked out of his Congressional Office...no Real Man punishes his kids just 'cause he's mad at their mom...FUCK this makes me see red...

See, THIS is why we have (at least) the IDEA of an impartial, bureaucratic Justice System, 'cause if this thing were all "State-of-Nature-ie" like they claim they really want, SOMEONE would just go get this asshole's blood as arrearage...and that doesn't do ANYONE one little bit of good, let alone his kids.

31. Way down in this article it explains
Both sides in the Walsh case have been negotiating Walsh’s overdue child support since he filed his response in February.

“Out of respect for his being in Washington, we haven’t been pushing it. We have been trying to work out a settlement,” Coladarci said.

http://www.suntimes.com/6720892-417/tea-party-rep.-joe-walsh-sued-for-100000-in-child-support

It also says she's been trying to get him to pay up since 2002.

39. Here's some fun stuff from his website and wiki...
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 11:07 PM by Snarkoleptic
As a deadbeat dad he doesn't know charity begins at home....
He raised nearly $1 million in the past five years for the Fabretto Children's Foundation, an international charity which uses education and micro-enterprise to deliver Nicaraguan children from poverty.<6>

Rife with hypocrisy in this statement...
Only those parents with financial means can really decide where they send their kids to school. Many underprivileged families are forced to send their kids to consistently failing public schools.

Strong "famliy values" statement for a guy whose children are wreckage in his wake...
Finally, I’m a strong supporter of traditional marriage and believe that a marriage can only exist between one man and one woman.

Wonder if he's going to hold true to #6 in his list of pledges...
I will always be accessible to my constituents and hold town halls on a regular basis, in good times or bad

Surprise Indeed!! Here's an oddly prophetic tweet he shit out in December...
"Surprise Representative Plans Surprises of His Own in Washington"

48. Wonder what would happen
if someone surveyed the state legislatures to discover how many of their members were/are deadbeats. It might explain why the laws regarding child support are so weakly enforsed. Underfunding the enforcement mechanisms effectively makes the laws worthless, a bit like buying toothless dobermans to guard your property.

Any parent who would stiff his own children would have no qualms about stiffing the country.

So this deadbeat dad racked up $117k in back child support + interest. What a model teabagger -- just doesn't like the gubmint telling him what to do...for example, pay for the well-being of his own children.

103. I'm under the vague impression
that such things are subject to state law. Some states go harder after deadbeats than others.

I'm divorced in the state of Kansas, and my spousal support comes to me through the Kansas Payment Center for Child Support. If my ex doesn't send them the money in a timely manner they will immediately slap a contempt of court thing on him. It happened once, at the very beginning. And, because at the very beginning, he was sending me checks directly, prior to the divorce becoming final, once it did become final they had me assure them that I had actually received said payments.

State laws about these things vary considerably, that I know.

71. My father did this - may have pioneered it
He is NOW a total right-wing nut job. Total.

After my birth, he moved 3,000 miles away and changed his social security number or whatever. Never communicated, never sent a birthday card. Nothing, nada, zip. I met him because I sought him out when I became a teen.

Ugh. Big disappointment. Total chauvinist.

While denying my existence his whole life (and mine), he apparently used right wing talking points -- i.e. blaming the system, his ex, courts, etc., in order to gain sympathy for HIMSELF.

Anyway -- he came to visit last summer to meet my children. What a fail. He managed to reveal his misogyny, prejudice, and ignorance in the first 10 minutes of his visit. My children were appalled. The only plus side was that he was a nervous wreck whilst in our home, as we quietly let him go on and on, exposing his true ugliness. He couldn't get away fast enough he was so uncomfortable in his own skin.

I tried so hard to make him welcome -- to try to understand -- to find his humanity. I know he's injured, but...so was I. He chose the dark side.

It's sad for everyone concerned. You were so incredibly kind to try to make him feel welcome after what he did to you, and how compassionate you are to realize that he was also injured. Considering that you were completely blameless and he's the one who cut all ties, you were far more forgiving and generous of spirit than he could ever have expected. And maybe that's what threw him off... maybe he just didn't know how to relate to that level of kindness. Or maybe that's not it at all. Anyway...

"He didn't know how to relate to that level of kindness." You are making me totally re-think these right-wingers and their obvious selfishness and over-developed sense of entitlement. Maybe instead of simply being selfish monsters, they are damaged in ways that causes them to behave like that.

I do believe that in the end we are all responsible for our actions, but you're making me re-consider some things. Thank you.

125. Thank you...
I didn't mean to go on so much about a personal issue. I was just reminded by the story headline. It was difficult enough, emotionally, to not have a father -- and not having proper financial support was beyond the pale. To me, that was the least (!) he could have done.

I am still kind to my father because it is my nature.

His right-wing mentality is difficult, but I'm polite -- and my children know I'm a total liberal and found his comments to be jaw-dropping. I do think he has a personality disorder of some sort.

Thanks for listening and discussing.

but could come up with the cash to loan his campaign $35,000. - maybe the investigation of this will find out who gave him the money to pay his own campaign. I've long suspected these repubs that loan their campaign money from "their accounts" come from some other place like repub PACS. The guy here in Kenosha running against Wirch in the recall came up with $30,000. of "his own money" for his campaign too. And how about Alvin Green running as a dem, unemployed and broke somehow had the $10,000. to run? I still think he was a fake put in by DeMint.

On edit: I just finished reading the article in sun-times, he's another grifter who ditches his bills and moves on. He was districted out of his district and will have to move and run in another district to keep this job. So he's done and that's why he's acting so outrageous.

87. Some asked here why it could get so high. If she was not on welfare
with the children then no one automatically goes after him. The agency that goes after deadbeats will do it but she has to especially ask them to and may even have to pay them. That part of Social Services was created mainly to chase people who are letting the taxpayer take care of their children. In a way that is discrimination - he is rich and his ex is able to take care of the children herself so he gets by with ignoring the courts while the poorer family have no alternatives. I am not complaining - years ago I lobbied to get them to chase deadbeats be they dads or moms. No one should be allowed to walk out on their children.

The new embodiment of “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” is Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) He’s called President Obama a liar on the debt-ceiling issue. In that now infamous YouTube video, Walsh hectors the president. “I won’t place one more dollar of debt upon the backs of my kids and grandkids unless we structurally reform the way this town spends money!” he said. Or should I say “he said rhetorically”? - http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/post/rep-joe-walsh-tea-party-glass-house-owes-child-support/2011/03/04/gIQA92xGfI_blog.html

We went on welfare and food stamps and fingers were pointed at me in school as one of the poor who was on the list to get free lunch at my school because my mother couldn't afford it. It was degrading and embarrassing and to this very day can still bring up sad stories and anger in my head when I see others suffering from the same. Joe Walsh should be shamed for the dirt bag hypocrite that he is and in addition, should resign or be forced to resign from Congress. Why does Joe Walsh hate his own children?
