If the world economy tanks, then people like the koches get to run around the world and buy up
businesses at rock bottom prices. venture capitalists all know this to be true.

2. I agree. It will be a new and very frightening era of consolidation the likes of which we....
...haven't seen, possibly, ever.

3. A former co worker used to tell me in crashes assets go to their rightful owners.
Disgusting I know. But if you are margined or leveraged, you can't hold on to assets as too many homeowners found out.

17. "During a depression, assests return to their rightful owners"
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=77890625449

Name:
"During a depression, assests return to their rightful owners"

Category:
Business - Investing

Description:
The words of Andrew Mellon, giant of both the financial and industrial sectors, and Secretary of the United States Treasury under the famed presidents Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover:

"During a depression, assets return to their rightful owners"

This insight into normative economic justice can help reassure us in these troubling times. Now when we see people (ourselves included? -- or is it just those other people?) losing their homes, cars, and pensions we can take solace in the fact that those were never really their rightful assets in the first place.

In this recession all of those assets can finally return to their rightful owners! HOORAY JUSTICE!!!!!

News:
It has just been confirmed that when Mr. Mellon spoke of those "rightful owners" he was primarily thinking of himself.

In other news, we've been informed that instead of saying we have 8% unemployment we should instead say that "8% of people have had their labor-power returned to them" . . . Now doesn't that sound better.

18. Thanks. I thought you were responding to my post with the Mellon quip. My mistake. But
that quote is really pertinent to these days.

11. We should be so lucky. That would mean putting money into
dead economies and might spur some job growth. As it is, no one is doing much of anything and that's hurting a lot of communities.
