This poll needs help: Tucson: Did political rhetoric play a role?

What do you think?

Do you think overheated political rhetoric had anything to do with the shooting of a congresswoman in Tucson?

* Yes. You can't put gunsights on congressional districts as Sarah Palin did and not expect someone to take that the wrong way.
* No. No one knows what the motives were behind these shootings. Blaming it on the right is just opportunism by the left.
* Yes. While we don't know the shooter's motives, it's not unreasonable to expect that pundits who suggest “second amendment solutions” have no effect.
* No. Robust political discussion is nothing new in the U.S. and it had nothing to do with this tragedy.

So far the answer leading the poll is: No. No one knows what the motives were behind these shootings. Blaming it on the right is just opportunism by the left.

8. what a badly worded poll
yet, in spite of, more than 60% (combined answers 1 and 3) indicate people do not want this Republican rhetoric as part of our political discourse.

11. There's a lot of loose cannons out there...
They just need someone to come along and light the fuse.

Of course we have an ample supply of high ranking conservative politicians and right wing media pundits that light fuses for both - a living and sport...
