1. Put them together, and you still don't have enough for even one George Jones.

3. THE POSSUM! A.K.A. "No Show Jones."
My favorite memory of Jones is that I took my dad to see him at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos.

I know "show biz schtick" is "show biz schtick," BUT...

...when he told the audience that he loved us, and that maybe he'd play "all night," I had to wonder what he really thought about us at the end of his 30-minute set.

:toast:

2. Jones was actually a decent left-wing guy before he went nuts and his church became a cult.
Or so I've heard.

5. He wouldn't have had the initial "followers" if he wasn't...
I watched the Powers Boothe movie and can't remember a sharp dividing line between the "decent left-wing guy and the one who "went nuts"...it just kind of happened.

Somewhere in there was good, or the illusion of good. With Bush, it was more or less a puppet with Karl Rove's hand up his ass.

7. What Jim Jones did was relatively trivial in scale, and required at least partial complicity...
Bush was responsible, as commander-in-chief, for the death of thousands of times the number of Peoples Temple members. Jim Jones is not even in the ballpark. It's like comparing Timothy McVeigh to Hitler.
