came from economics. Socially i'm a big left-winger. It's just on economics where I'm more to the centre.

Damn. Copied the wrong link.

My score:

Left quad, 2 lines up from bottom, two lines over from left side.

Closed out of the results page, but that's where I remember my score being.

29. The results of this are very interesting.
Most of the posters here are to the Left of Kucinich and Nader. If we assume those two to be democratic socialists in the vein of Sanders(which does seem to match up with their views) then we also know that the a lot of the posters on DU are to the left of even Sanders. That is getting into various degrees of socialism and in some cases even Marxist socialism.

37. Well if you look at the graph I posted showing the candidates from the 2008 election
it shows that you are both to the left of Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich who would likely be considered social-democrats or democratic socialists in Europe. Though I've read Nader would be considered a moderate social democrat in Europe, so perhaps in the left wing of a democratic socialist party?

48. I'm much more surprised to discover that I'm libertarian than left.
Well, quite a but...though I'd debate their interpretations of the labels, based upon the reading lists for the 4 quadrants.

To wit, I'm pretty sure that Thomas Hobbes is not a RW Authoritarian and there is a great deal of Left Authoritarianism that has nothing to do with Marxism or Stalinism or Maoism; to be precise it would be inclusive of most of the staunchly-left anti-communists of the 20th century such as Dag Hammarskjold, John Dewey, all three Kennedy brothers, Boris Yeltsin and John Maynard Keynes.

50. The problems you listed are only the beginning. First...
I think it is helpful to point out that it was the Libertarians who came out with this authoritarian & economic graphing on two axes. Which isn't a bad idea, except that every questionaire seems geared towards proving that everyone is Libertarian. The questions are all written from a Libertarian's perspective.

And if that isn't concerning enough, anyone who comes up with a website to display the poll and results can put their own spin on the questions and weigh the responses however they please. We dont see the methodology here so we do not know how each answer affects the placement on the graph.

These are cute but ultimately pretty meaningless.

68. My needle spins around and around and around...
And lands pretty far over in the libertarian left corner.

Libertarian? how can this be? I have a brain.

71. I think 'libertarian' is used here to mean 'anti-authoritarian'...
And does not imply libertarianism in the economic sense. Most of us on this board come out as both economically left-wing, and socially anti-authoritarian.

However, it's noticeable that some things aren't on the quiz; for example, very little directly on public services, welfare state, healthcare, etc. (most of my key issues!)

94. Thats because these quizzes were created by Libertarians to further their cause.
See my earlier posts on the subject. While fun, these graphs are pretty meaningless.

I didn't think I was more liberal than the Dalai Lama. Then again, for some of the questions I would have chosen a "neutral" option, had there been one.

The last time I took a political compass test, I was the Dalai Lama. Now I've gone even further left libertarian. My score is Economic left/right = -8.2
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian = -7.9

Am I becoming more of a radical lefty in my old age or is the scale constantly moving to the right?

97. I disagree with the choices of answers. I think a simple agree/disagree
is similar to a yes/no.

If stopped by the police for speeding and he asks was I speeding, and I say I was - if ten miles over the limit is a 'yes', would 25 over be a 'hell yes'?

Do I agree that the world is flat? yes. If I say I strongly agree, does that make the world less flat?
