I personally don't like to think that we have "Gangs" running our country or deciding the future of the country. They're suppose to be statesman, or statespersons.

It seems to me, however, from this vantage, that the government has been taken over by thugs.

there was a movie he was in along with Harvey Korman and IIRC, they were a bumbling gang of bank robbers or something like that?

11. They're just meatpuppets for the Gangs of New York.
If you think that our country is run by "statesmen" you may some have obsolete notions about how things work. Or at least a very inflated idea of the dignity of elective government. They should all be wearing fishnet stockings or vinyl thigh highs.

16. It is a trite, hackneyed political cliche
We've, just in the last few years, had the Gang of Fourteen and the Gang of Seven. Kind of like _(insert scandal here)_gate. To borrow from Dave, it is a Stoopit "Pundint" Trick.

29. The catfood can be extended farther than the can of ravioli
You can get 2 meals out of the ravioli, 4 out of the catfood over rice. Please don't ask me how I know.

25. It's just a takeoff on the Gang of Four, which was a group of four
Chinese officials who were controlling the Communist Party during the Cultural Revolution of the '60s and early '70s. They probably used it because it's kind of catchy. I also call my group of cats the Gang of Fur.

It's a tongue in cheek way of referring to them. Not all linguistic usage is serious.
