1. Brazil - "very good"?
That's got to be a joke - the rain-forrest destruction is increasing

2. I would like to have seen how they came to their conclusions.
There's zero info at my link besides the map itself.

3. From the report:
"‘Very good’: meet IPCC recommendations, Annex I: 25 - 40% reduction by 2020, Non-Annex I: submitted NAMA, 15-30% below BAU
by 2020, or vocal in pressing for action."

http://www.smithschool.ox.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Climate-Negotiations-report_Final.pdf (page 2)

For Brazil in particular, they note, in the report,

"In Brazil, the introduction of a domestic cap and trade scheme is being considered"
and
"The declaration by the Government of Brazil at Poznan to terminate all deforestation by 2025 has been a precursor to such action."

12. "The declaration by the Government of Brazil at Poznan to terminate all deforestation by 2025 ..."
Well that's nice, but it'll be almost gone by 2020.

Nothing left but the Amazon river area itself ....it's going fast

It's not good

4. I think we would have made better progress had somebody not tried to convince
voters that a president who didn't believe in global warming was just as good as the world's best-known activist on this issue (and succeeded with some people).

7. It's not like people are still saying there's no difference between the parties after over 10 years.
I can see where I have an obsession, and Ralph Nader does not.

9. Admitting a problem is the correct first step.
You are now on your way.

It's probably just a cosmic coincidence.

Thanks for the thread, Forkboy.

10. Funny to see how much greener Mexico is than the US...
Then again, Mexico City mandated all plastic shopping bags be 100% bio-degradable back in '09 ... which is still relatively un-dooable here in the States.

Too bad US politicians aren't as conscientious or as courageous as Mexican ones...
