an analogy that most Republicans can understand
The House teabaggers are economic jihadists.

They have taken over the cockpit of the plane.

It is time to storm the cockpit to stop them from crashing the US economy ..

"Let's roll."

1. Um, United 93 crashed and killed everyone on board
Forgive me if I'm not wild about this analogy.

3. So in your analogy
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 11:30 AM by Jazz Ambassador
If the tea party are the terrorists who've taken over the Plane of State (formerly the Ship of State), and they're intent on using it to destroy America, and we can stop them from doing so by storming the cockpit, why do we still have to die? And who is "we"? And what is our inevitable death analogous to?

5. Some politicians will have to sacrifice their political careers to stop them

Mostly "establishment" Republicans.

The John Boehners of the world will have to take on the teabaggers to save America.... and it will cost them their political careers.

6. So, eventually, If America survives
we will all owe a debt of gratitude, as well as our undying admiration, to the heroic spirit of . . . John Boehner? Nope, still not liking this analogy.

7. Some politicians will have to sacrifice some thing or some one.
I am afraid they will use a twist on an old phrase and "sacrifice the many to save a few".

I don't expect they will count themselves among the many.

9. Guess we'll find out as we hit the earth.
At least we will have acted to save others.

8. And in consequence did not take out the U.S. Capitol or the White House.
Forgive me if I'm not wild about the situation that makes this analogy both apt and necessary.

10. Now this I like
So basically, we're screwed either way, but through our heroic actions we can save the lives of our politicians. THAT makes sense. And now I need a stiff drink.

4. I like your analogy.
Some people might take it a bit too literally, but it has value.

Thanks.
