Re. Newscorp's Obama donations: "Simpsons," 20th Century Fox, etc., are part of News Corp
Generally overlooked, are the many News Corp employees who are undoubtedly liberal Dems. It's also ironic that they contribute enormously to News Corp profits.

Every actor in a 20th Century Fox movie, every director, every writer, all involved receive their checks from Newscorp. Viewers of every 20th Century Fox movie put money into News Corp's coffers.

"Simpsons" writers, the same News Corp check. (I believe Bart Simpson, in an inside network joke, once woke up from a nightmare having dreamt that he financed a right-wing "news" network.) The hugely successful "American Idol," and all other Fox TV shows, the same.

There are Fox executives who are liberal Dems.

Murdoch, thankfully, appears to keep his political views out of Fox Entertainment's content.

(Local Fox affiliate TV stations are also part of News Corp.)

It's sad, but true, that Rupert Murdoch owns this American entertainment institution, 20th Century Fox.

6. He also owns the Dow Jones company.
I don't think foreign ownership of companies so fundamental to the United States economy should be allowed. But, I guess profit trumps national security.

The sale of the New York Stock Exchange to a European company signaled that it's all up for grabs now.

20th Century Fox which I enjoy.

Having said that, I do see more programs on his network aimed at depicting the American People and people in other nations in their worst light or as criminals, COPs comes to mind.

Edit to add link.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COPS_(TV_series)

COPS is an American reality television series that follows police officers, constables, and sheriff's deputies during patrols and other police activities. It is one of the longest-running television programs in the United States and in May 2011 became longest-running show on Fox with the announcement that America's Most Wanted was being cancelled after 23 years.<1><2> Created by John Langley and Malcolm Barbour, it premiered on March 11, 1989, and has aired 970 episodes as of June 18, 2011. It won the American Television Award in 1993 and has earned four Emmy nominations.<3> COPS begins its 24th season in 2011.<4> The series is currently one of only two remaining first-run prime-time programs airing on Saturday nights on the four major U.S. broadcast television networks along with CBS's 48 Hours Mystery.

COPS is broadcast by Fox (with repeats from earlier seasons syndicated to local television stations and other cable networks, including truTV (formerly CourtTV) and G4), and follows the activities of police officers by embedding camera crews with police units. The show's formula follows the cinéma vérité convention, with no narration or scripted dialog, depending entirely on the commentary of the officers and on the actions of the people with whom they come into contact.

The show has followed officers in 140 different cities in the United States and in Hong Kong, London, and the former Soviet Union. Each episode is approximately 22 minutes in length and typically consists of three segments, with each segment being one or two self-contained police incidents.

The show is well known for its theme song, "Bad Boys", performed by reggae group Inner Circle.

P.S. I would categorize this as subliminal propaganda.

Thanks for the thread, DeepModem Mom.

8. I don't think COPS ever shows the criminals getting away,
even though criminals often get away. The police officers act tough, even when situations don't call for toughness.

I don't like the message they're selling.

17. Yes, I don't believe they ever show police brutality.
I've heard that police do have a tough time of it because they generally only see the worst in people, and perhaps they suffer from a form of PTSD due to this near constant exposure.

But it seems to me, this type of one sided propaganda promoted by FOX to some extent brain washes the nation as well.

10. If someone could spin off 20th Century Fox from NewsCorp.........
The former could repair whatever good reputation they may have lost and NewsCorp would lose, like, half its profit overnight, at least!
