I've called Congress. You've called. And they are not listening.

We have only a few days to show this government that we do not want to see cuts to these safety net programs.

Once it's signed, it will be too late. And all the calls in the world are not going to change that.

Will we simply stand by and watch it happen?

2. well, this is the country that stood by while Presidential elections were stolen...
So I'm guessing, sadly, the answer is "yes."

Until we hit the ruling elites in their pocketbooks, mere "voting," or "petitioning" will just generate the usual contemptuous chuckles on their part...

3. It was too late when the bush-Obama tax cuts for the wealthy
were extended. That sealed the fate of these cuts.

4. Like you said, they're not listening.
So I guess we have no alternative but to stand by and watch it happen. I'm contacting my Senators anyway. I'm sure they'll love hearing from me again.

12. According to your reply and the others in this subthread, they are literally not listening.
Can't even leave voice mail or send an email. That's pretty bad.

6. Congress doesn't care, neither does Obama
It isn't possible for anyone with half a brain to be anything but cynical about who's actually running things here in America.

The people who owe their positions to our votes don't care about us and they don't fear us.

I doubt that it's possible to get them to care about us, but fear is another matter. Any Democrat who votes for these crappy proposals needs to be primaried.

8. They got our votes in the first place because they were chosen for us.
Those who are actually running things give us our choices.

So, we lose before we even vote.

It's as simple as that.

9. It's never too late. But it would mean the need to take it to the streets.
And to either reform or destroy the Democratic Party in the process.

But, hey, we've been here before, when Dem President LBJ betrayed us with his escalation of Vietnam into a major war.

10. That's all we can do anyway, at this time.

There is no countervailing force, yet, but these actions pretty much assure that there will be one.

It's only kabuki thearter anyway.
