Daly City man guilty of burning young son in oven

The incident happened Dec. 28 while Colver was taking care of his son, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. The boy's mother, Colver's girlfriend, was at work.

Colver called her that evening to say their son had been hurt. After she took him to Seton Medical Center in Daly City, doctors determined that the boy had suffered second- and third-degree burns on his legs consistent with contact with a "hot, linear object," Wagstaffe said.

Colver told investigators he had been sleeping on the couch when his son went into the kitchen, climbed up and turned on the oven before crawling in and suffering burns, authorities said.

Police later determined that Colver had actually been cooking a pizza and that his son had been "banging his hand against an open oven door," Wagstaffe said.

Colver decided to teach his son a lesson about the dangers of a hot oven and lifted him feet-first into the appliance, Wagstaffe said.

The boy squirmed and fell onto the hot coils.

Stupid stupid parent. He heard "I'll teach you a lesson" from his own parents and actually believed it. It's a FIGURE OF SPEECH.
