New Television Ad Campaign Stirs Opposition to Social Security and Medicare Benefit Cuts

By NCPSSM | July 18, 2011

As a leader in the fight to defend the programs that have protected generations of Americans, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) will launch a new television ad campaign, airing in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia markets beginning on Sunday, July 17th. The ad entitled “Jam Session” highlights to young and old alike the critical roles of Social Security and Medicare. This marks the National Committee’s first entry into the television advertising market in more than a decade, signaling our members’ passionate commitment to fight back against Washington’s attack on vital economic security programs.

1. I Saw Another Ad By AARP On SS & Medicare..........
in this one they were opposed to any cuts or changes. I thought about a couple of weeks ago AARP supported changes?

2. AARP is against changes for current beneficiaries. They are wishy washy on future cuts
Chained CPI would affect current beneficiaries, which is why they started running those ads.

3. The reason why is...

...that AARP has a fat finger in the insurance business pie. If there are going to be cuts in the future, AARP will make a bundle on selling supplemental insurance.

4. Good ad, I support this group.
I think AARP is now hearing from its members, so I believe that is why they might be getting more vocal and not hanging back. If AARP's membership goes down because they support the wrong side of this issue, then they had better get good at that insurance thing, because they would have NOTHING. Their strength is their member number base. Period.
