Imbecile Howard Kurtz has some Rethug on comparing Palins gun sights with Michelle Obama saying ...
... "shake them", when encouraging supporters to get their friends to go out and vote.

You can see where this is going can't you? Fucking media carries water for the Republicans non-stop.

Hey Howie, try taking the knee pads off once and be a real journalist just once in your miserable life.

1. What is scary is how every media dog around is willing to hide
that this was a political assassination. Bring back the Fairness Doctrine!!!

2. The level of media desperation to protect public figures who use RW hate rhetoric is bizarre
George Packer

<...>

This relentlessly hostile rhetoric has become standard issue on the right. (On the left it appears in anonymous comment threads, not congressional speeches and national T.V. programs.) And it has gone almost entirely uncriticized by Republican leaders. Partisan media encourages it, while the mainstream media finds it titillating and airs it, often without comment, so that the gradual effect is to desensitize even people to whom the rhetoric is repellent. We’ve all grown so used to it over the past couple of years that it took the shock of an assassination attempt to show us the ugliness to which our politics has sunk.

<...>

Let's overlook the political implications of the Arizona incident and all the others

3. They have blood on their hands. They don't want it discussed. They created Palin and her ilk by
constant coverage of her and every other nut case out there. Quick, change the subject.

4. I had turned to CNN....
because I simply couldn't listen to MSNBC's repeat of the young girl mother again...too emotional. But there was Howie Kurtz and I listed for about a minute and heard that nonsense. I abhor Kurtz...and he seemed only to validate that idiot's statement. No more CNN...

12. he had Joe Klein on
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 12:34 PM by Whisp
and Joe pretty well called them all out, the cable news and all the people that spew this hateful shit and the people (like CNN) that don't call them out for it. That's basically what he said.
If they have a transcript I would recommend finding it.

6. a sociopath will say those things
they always twist shit to excuse heinous acts. And yes, they do protect the GOP by being invited to use the media as a tool to spout their BS. It's why shit like this is happening and now we have shills excusing it all.

Rep. Giffords' head did a great deal of damage to the shooter's bullet. Practically ruined it. This kind of thing is never entirely one-sided, ya know.

9. "shaking" down your friends to vote is NOT equivalent to Palin.
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 12:20 PM by progressivebydesign
Ugh. I KNEW that the false equivalency machine would be at work today. They want to say "but see? see? Democrats are JUST the same???" We're not. We've never been. Even on DU when some people have posted that they're glad about certain republicans passing away, the collective community has self-policed and called them out on it. Does that happen on republican and teaparty sites? No way. They actively participate in violent and destructive rhetoric, and the media keeps their heads up their asses and refuses to deal with it.

I can only hope that GOOD Americans are watching those shows today and finally rejecting that bullshit. That they're watching the slain girl's mother, then seeing the media apologists trying to say that the language of violence didn't contribute, and they'll finally get it.
