Pelosi:

"The only thing I hope he doesn’t ask us to do is go to Camp David. A drive down the street to these meetings is one thing. I want (Camp David) to be preserved as a place where a president can go to renew, to study, to prepare for the next week. I want it to be a place where the president takes heads of state to close out all other concerns and stay focused on resolving global problems. I don’t want it to be a place where the president has to continue to listen to some of this stuff.”

According to the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire blog, Pelosi delivered her remarks "just as was releasing a statement rejecting the idea--broached by the White House--of bringing the negotiating leaders to Camp David this weekend." They quote Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck, who says his boss discussed the idea of a Camp David summit with the White House, but felt there was "no need" for the trip.

1. They're making Camp David sound like "The Woodshed" of old.

2. I can understand for their convenience, but PrezO surely needs a change of scene,
AND the different ambience might actually help with the task.

Nice weather here, this weekend.

3. I heard a clip of Pelosi today basically stating the she thinks
the President has the patience of Job (having to put up with Cantor, etc.) and that she didn't. Not exactly what she said, but it had a certain sting to it, and I was highly amused.

I like what she had to say here, also.

4. Whatever. If he had a meeting and didn't invite her she'd bitch about
that too.

10. That might work to our favor...
Imagine the president standing there holding a bottle of Jack just out of Boehner's reach...

Come on, John. Just a two percent increase in the tax rate for taxable income over $1 million, and the pain will aaaaaaall go away. You know you need this, John. Doesn't this look delicious? (Taking a long, slow sip from the bottle...) Mmmmm...man, that's good. Are you sure about that? Here, sign this right now. Then call Cantor and tell him...here you are, John, you're a good Speaker.

//after ten seconds//

You fucker! This is iced tea! I swear I'll,,,

You'll do what? We've got you dead to rights on videotape trading a tax increase for a bottle of booze. You're screwed, and so is your anti-American party. Now, this is what you are going to do...

7. I don't blame her. She probably doesn't want
to be even more agitated by being all closed-in with Boehner. Yuck! It's going too far too soon. Give the woman some space, please!
