1. I live in a fricking GOP district.
My husband gets SS, too.

We can get by. We have other resources. Some of my neighbors do not.

I think we are all going to have to suffer equally.

Besides, we do not like it when employers use the threat of job cuts to hurt workers and unions. We shout that it is extortion. and illegal.

This is too much like extortion for my tastes.

2. Thats good shit!
You should email your congressperson about that.

And the next time these GOPers start whining about spending, he can ask them if they would like to give back the money that went to their district.

9. This idea can't be sold packaged this way...but maybe with different packaging...

Republicans are opposed to redistribution of wealth from rich people to poor people.

Plant the idea the government should not redistribute wealth between states.

There are studies, which appear periodically, showing
what states pay into the federal government in the form of taxes,
and what states get from the federal government in the form of benefits.

The following is one such example.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/04/the_red_state_ripoff.html

The Republicans already want to limit the role of the federal government in SS and Medicare.
Nudge them to the idea SS and Medicare should be state run, state funded, state only programs.

Do not allow redistribution of wealth between states, in any form.

Go so far as to require any state that has a military base to PAY all expenses for that base.
All expenses include payroll, whatever else. If a state does not want a military base...fine.
Move the military base to another state willing to pay for the military base.

Republicans say the Federal government is too big. Republicans advocate states rights.
If I didn't know better, I'd think Republicans want a Confederation of States instead of a Union.

What will happen?

Businesses will want to be in low tax states.
Businesses, already, move factories to low tax, low cost, foreign countries.

People will have a choice. People can live in a high tax state and receive good benefits.
People can live in a low tax state and take their chances.

People can buy products from out of state businesses providing work to out of state workers.
People can "buy local", giving business to local businesses, providing work to local workers.
Require labels, on all products, indicating the state of manufacture.

I'd go so far as to try to find a way to tax goods and services that come in from low tax states.
One of the reasons for the "Union" is to prevent taxes on goods and services between states.

The Republicans want a Confederacy...fine.
In a Confederacy, states should should regulate their own borders and collect tariffs.

Another reason for the "Union" is defence...fine. Don't use defence to redistribute wealth.
In a Confederacy, each state can create and maintain its own state militia.

We agreed to international laws preventing unfair tariff practices...okay.
Find a way to impose a VAT tax on goods and services moving between states.
Make it unprofitable for businesses to move factories and work out of state or overseas.

Yes...this is a radical idea...there will be unintended, painful consequences.
I think Health Care should be Universal. I think Health Care should be a right for everyone.
I hate the idea the poor and elderly and sick in low tax states will suffer.

This idea is a cliff...and I hope the Republicans get pushed over a cliff.
I hope touching the SS rail will push the Republicans over a cliff.
The Republicans just need a little nudge.
If the Republicans really want what they say they want...nudge them to the edge of the cliff.

Make living in a Republican state a bad thing. Don't give Republican states a free lunch.

If you don't like this idea offer an alternative.
What are the prongs the Republicans use for their policies?
They object to redistribution of wealth on the grounds people earn what they deserve.
They object to social programs on the grounds it's not fair to the tax payers.
They claim government shouldn't be involved because it's bad at picking winners and losers.
They claim the private sector can do it better.

I reject the idea people earn what they deserve.
You can't tell me the CEO, of a company is worth hundreds or thousands of times a worker.

I reject the idea it's not fair to the tax payers. Tax payers benefit from the system.
We should help those less fortunate, who are not benefiting from "our" system.

I reject the idea the government shouldn't be involved because it picks winners and losers.
Where would the internet be without the government?
How many technological advances wouldn't happen without the government?

I reject the idea the private sector can always do it better.
Health insurance, in this country, is an eye-sore. It's a lottery.
You gamble you won't get sick...if you get sick, God help you.
The government runs V. A. hospitals. V. A. hospitals seem to work.
When V. A. hospitals don't work, our Congressional representatives "fix" them.
I wish everyone could go to a V. A. hospital.
