1. Wanna bet?
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 08:15 PM by Fumesucker
I say the odds are 60/40 the Democrats get the primary blame, specifically Obama.

ETA: I'm talking about the M$M ..

ETA2: It doesn't matter _what_ he does either..

2. Yep. Unless we get as energetic as those psychopathic Repukes, we'll continue to get the blame
One would think Democrats were all chronically ill, from the little energy we put into things.

6. We are to prone to infighting
Look how easy the M$M got us fighting among ourselves with one unconfirmed story about social security cuts. That is one thing the GOP has always had on their side is no matter what happened they all pretty much supported each other, although with the tea party that has come to an end.

10. I know. And I remember during the Al Gore election, some Dems went with Gore instead
Made me sick to my stomach. My opinion of any Dem that went with Gore is identical to my opinion of any Repuke.

7. I think Obama has been quite energetic..
I just don't like the direction his energy is taking him in quite a few cases.

At Bush's first inauguration the presidential limo was pelted with eggs by a hostile crowd and it was never shown on commercial TV at all.

At Obama's inauguration a homophobic megachurch preacher gave the invocation and huge throngs were adoring.

The contrast could hardly be more stark.

And yet Democrats are on the defensive.

12. I wish I had a clue..
I have grandchildren that I would just as soon didn't grow up to live in an apocalyptic Randian nightmare.

For one thing I've read entirely too much dystopian SF, stuff that would make Orwell look like a wimp.

Authoritarians are a real problem when you get a positive feedback loop going with a large number of social dominators in control.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5692371

The primary characteristics of the authoritarian leaders, which Altemeyer also refers to as “Social Dominators”, is their great desire for power over other people – not as a means to an end, but as an end in itself. To give you a quick idea of what these people are like, Altemeyer notes that there is a very strong correlation between the Social Dominator scale and what he refers to as the “Exploitive Manipulative Amoral Dishonesty” scale. Here is Altemeyer’s summary of the psychological characteristics of the social dominator – or authoritarian leader:

High scorers are inclined to be intimidating, ruthless, and vengeful. They scorn such noble acts as helping others, and being kind, charitable, and forgiving. Instead they would rather be feared than loved, and be viewed as mean, pitiless, and vengeful. They love power, including the power to hurt in their drive to the top….

Social dominators thus admit, anonymously, to striving to manipulate others, and to being dishonest, two-faced, treacherous, and amoral. It’s as if someone took the Scout Law (“A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, ...”) and turned it completely upside down…

I believe '96, they owned it. I see no reason to think it will be any different.

8. Clinton didn't use Republican framing nearly as much in '96 as Obama is now..
It's going to be a lot easier for the right to pin this on Obama because he largely agrees with them, also too the Mighty Wurlitzer is far louder today than it was in '96.

13. Democrats will get blamed.
If we default, it is because Obama insisted on tax cuts,
If SSI, Medicare and Medicaid is cut it is because Obama cut it,
If taxes are raised it will be Obama's fault (the Republicans will make it sound as if he raised taxes on all and quadrupled the taxes on the rich),
If the economy totally crashes it is Obama's fault,
If the economy gets better, it is Obama's fault it didn't happen quicker,
if the Polar Ice Caps melt, it is Obama's fault for not pushing a climate bill,
If Planet X destroys the Earth it is Obama's fault that he didn't stop it,
If ANYTHING bad happens it is Obama's fault,
If ANYTHING good happens it is Obama's fault it didn't happen sooner and bigger,
The same is true if Ms. Clinton became President, or Biden, or any body who is the Democrat choice for president.

Lets face it, it will ALWAYS be the Democrat's fault and until we learn to stand up for ourselves, learn to stand together (out side of DU of course), tell Limbaugh, Palin, Bachman, Romney, and all of the other Republican President hopefuls to go screw themselves call FOX and all of the right-wing media out for their lies, let middle America know the truth to what the Republican' and right wing nuts are really wanting to do to them for the richest 1% it isn't going to change.

20. And they'll twist it
And it will work, and the Dems and Obama will get the blame. If people after all this time don't know what is going on, it will be easy to blame Obama.
