The white house gave us this statement:

This morning, in an unspeakable tragedy, a number of Americans were shot in Tuscon, Arizona, at a constituent meeting with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. And while we are continuing to receive information, we know that some have passed away, and that Representative Giffords is gravely wounded.

I'm calling BULLSHIT on this horrible use of passive voice to blunt the naked truth.

1. If he continues this passive tone and way of acting, this will be a display of spinelessness.

2. Well acts of terrorism result in tragedy - I don't understand the
problem. I think those who were affected and who lost loved ones would want to hear it expressed this way at this early point, at least I would. Some empathy. THEN come out with the anger and guns blazing and naming names. Just my (I'm sure to be unpopular) opinion.

7. The shooters are just a bigger version of the anti-abortion nuts.
I had to look at the anti abortion nuts in civil court. That was traumatic. They are scary and violent. They try to distance themselves from the violence.

One local anti-abortion asshole, Don Treshman, was asked on the witness stand, "Do you condemn or condone the murder of Dr. David Gunn in Florida?"

His answer: "We neither condemn it nor do we condone it"

I was the court reporter and I could see the jury silently sliding into the floor in shock.
