Obama Using the Word "Congress" Repeatedly
I'll keep it short and sweet. Did anyone else have a problem with him saying "congress needs to get it together," rather than blaming "Republicans in congress," perhaps chiding Cantor from running home, taking his ball.

Call me crazy, but Democrats as usual (In um..."Congress") are compromizing their tuckus's off, and Republicans are saying "No tax increase for the rich for you!!!"

1. Right now the public hears congress and think republican
The GOP has been so bold and brash with their demands that Obama can say congress and it is directed where it belongs. Meanwhile, the M$M and mostly FOX can't call him partisan.

4. Absolutely clever use by Obama
as it has already been mentioned. Many Teabaggers bragged about the gains in Congress, so it definitely is in the back of the public's mind as to who controls congress currently.

want to give less to his campaign. It's like a parent blaming or punishing all his kids for the misdeeds of ONE.

6. Surely, that's why he does it.
To annoy you.

Please, folks. This is petty complaining over semantics -- a distinction without a difference. Republicans control Congress. He's calling them out and everyone knows it.

The words are "Republicans in Congress," need to do their jobs. It's easy enough, all you've got to do is remember which party you are in.

And if anyone is not doing their job, well, let us just say Obama is living in a very thin, glass house. He hasn't used the bully pulpit--instead of compromise, he's given in, over, and over, on issue after issue. He reminds me so much of Bill Clinton it makes me want to puke. He needs to remember that it's important what side he's on, and like Cenk said tonight, my concern comes from a worry that he's not going to win because of it.

17. He does it to hide. He needs to name who is doing it by name: Republicans
No more dividing what the Republicans are doing, and blaming the ones who are not doing it.

18. If only Republicans are doing this, then they need to be named by what they are
Republicans.

7. if he just said GOP
then that would let the Blue Dogs off the hook, which he should not, as they are as much our enemies as the GOP, if not more.

8. You wanna let Reid off the hook? Why, since he screwed up HCR
by letting Baucus whittle it down to nothing? You think Congress doesn't have a part in govt?

9. You don't have to read many of my posts to know I'm highly critical of Obama but...
...I don't really have a problem with him using the term "congress"-> Everybody knows who and what he's talking about. Those who don't will get more explicit details from him about just who has the straight razor to our country's throat if Boner still won't play ball.

The exact same thing will happen as we approach August 2nd: The president will become more and more explicit about exactly what we face if the Repukes still want to act like babies- something else Obama pointed out today.

He doesn't want to burn any potential bridges nor spook the whole country- not at this point. At some point in the future it very well may become a necessary political tool.

I don't necessarily endorse the methods he uses, but that's my take on why he's behaving the way he is on this particular issue and it makes sense to me.

10. Hasn't Obama totally cut Congressional Democrats out of negotiations?
He's terrified that they might not cave.

16. Sometimes
More importantly, Democrats have negotiated, as usual, they've put up all sorts of giveaways and adjustments to medicare, and SS that liberals don't want--which goes to my point--why say "Congress" when clearly it's the Republicans who are executing the 'tyranny of the minority' strategy.
