Girls are being 'converted' into boys in Indore - by the hundreds every year - at ages where they cannot give their consent for this life-changing operation.
This shocking, unprecedented trend, catering to the fetish for a son, is unfolding at conservative Indore's well-known clinics and hospitals on children who are 1-5 years old. The process being used to 'produce' a male child from a female is known as genitoplasty. Each surgery costs Rs 1.5 lakh.

Moreover, these children are pumped with hormonal treatment as part of the sex change procedure that may be irreversible.

The parents press for these surgeries despite being told by doctors that the 'converted' male would be infertile.

They claim a strict procedure is followed to determine the sex of the newborn, after which the external appearance of the child is changed to match the sex.

There is no system to monitor that claim and is completely open to abuse.

I find this kind of behavior morally repugnant. I always wanted a daughter, and I got my wish.

Besides, don't people understand not to mess with this kind of thing? It throws off the balance of nature.

This isn't just a war on females thing, some time ago I heard about the opposite happening in Tailand, boys converted to girls so they could make money as sex workers. The key criminals in my eyes are the doctors: They've got these uneducated people thinking they can "change" the gender of their children, truly make boys girls and vice versa. But the lesson of truly trans people is that there is always a part deep inside that knows your gender despite your body, and for 99.9% of us that gender matches the body we were born in. So all these kids will grow up to have the trans "born in the wrong body" experience, without having been born in the wrong body... But rather given fake bodies through hormones and medical hacks that only approximate the bodies they don't identify with. Its the hucksters selling this who need to come under the microscope, a doctor should know better.

In some parts of the world, the son and his wife take care of the parents when they're old enough to need it. If all you have is a long string of daughters, you're kinda screwed--so let's just run 'em down to the doctor and get them rearranged so they look like little boys rather than what they actually are.
