The most important DECISION for Obama is coming
The National Debt ceiling.

How is Obama going to control the message that we NEED more revenue, thus taxes are going to be RAISED, just like Ronald Reagan did!

If one iota of Social Security or Medicare Benefits is cut, he will go down as the worst Democratic President ever, and potentially the end of the Democratic Party as we know it.

It is decision time, and this is all going to unfold in the next three weeks.

There CANNOT be ANY negotiating about the retirement of the the entire Middle Class.

Will Obama and the Dems have a spine? Where will they make a stand?

1. He kind of gave up that position when he extended the Bush/Obama tax cuts.
Once he and the Dems bought into that shit sandwich, it was only a matter of time before we faced cutting social safety nets.

2. Not really... he extended the tax break
Extended means they will expire. And if they are going to expire, then you can argue to expire them early!

This is NOT HARD to create a message that is the RIGHT DIRECTION for the country.

This is make or break time for Obama. If he blows this, I think he also blows his re-election chances.

I for one will NOT vote for him if he cuts Social Security in any way. They would have to cut one trillion dollars off the Defense Budget for me to agree to ANY cuts on SS and Medicare. And we know that is NOT going to happen.

I fear we have a very weak President, and I am getting tired of waiting for him to get the job done.

12. Why expire it early when you can sit on your ass and not spend any political capital?
You just want him to shove it in everyone's face?

3. We should stand united on this.
But I see too many willing to go along with this, and I am not just talking about repugs.

"But I see too many willing to go along with this, and I am not just talking about repugs."

Perhaps I misunderstood your comment and the "too many" is used in a more general term and to be not directed at any in particular.

BTW: Do I have to fill out my profile right away?

6. If Social Security is touched or Medicare then Congress
better be prepared to give all congressional pensions and health care
If this country is in that bad of shape they are the ones that put us
here and if we do not have the money for SS and Medicare then the
American people sure do not have the money for congressional pensions and health care

13. But Congress deserves the finer tings in life that they would deny

the rest of the society that they supposedly represent.

There is only so much to go around, and they really deserve the best.

Do I need to add a sarcasm dingy?

8. I always find it funny when spine speculation comes into the mix.
It's like playing Powerball. Never gonna happen. You can hope, but it's just not going to be there.

14. Because the republicans will cry about it, the corporate-owned media

will cover it 24/7 and the Dems will conceivably buckle. Since they don't want to be the bad guys they won't want to deprive the rich, including themselves, of the finery that they so deserve.

I'm sure that all affected politicians will be besides themselves with grief as they collect their pensions.

Don't worry about it though. They fought the good fight.
