CARBONDALE, Ill. — Administrators at Southern Illinois University and the Non-Tenure Track Faculty Association at the Carbondale campus have reached a deal that's designed to avoid layoffs. snip

SIUC Spokesman Rod Sievers tells WSIU Radio that it isn't the final solution, but things are looking good.

Union: More than 80 SIU-Carbondale teachers facing layoffs, pay cuts

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Officials with a faculty union at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale say nine teachers are being laid off while 76 others will see their wages cut.

The Non-Tenure Track Faculty Association tells WSIL-TV that it got word of the cutbacks Friday as it continues contract talks that began with the university in July.
