Wrong John Wayne, there, Crazy-Eyes
Edited on Mon Jun-27-11 03:56 PM by MineralMan
Bachmann, today mentioned John Wayne as a fellow Waterloo, IA resident, and likened herself to him.

Uh, Michele...that was John Wayne Gacy, the batshit crazy killer. He lived in Waterloo. The actor, John Wayne, comes from Somerset, IA, over 100 miles away. Someone's Google search went awry, it seems, and the news media has picked up this error. Your little error is now national news, and they're having a heyday of fun at your expense.

OOOPSIE!

29. That is such a stupid response.
I was trying to find the other thread to post this, but I happened to find this one instead and your response was essentially the same as the one I was going to reply to.

Do you want to know the difference? The difference between a gaffe and ignorance? The difference between Obama saying there is 57 states (or whatever he said, I assume this is what you are referring to) and some of these comments that people like Palin and Bachmann make?

Ask Obama later how many states there are. I bet you he won't say 57.

Ask Palin later what Paul Revere did. She doubles down on her stupidity and says WE got it wrong, he did warn the British.

Ask Bachmann later what she meant. Chris Matthews reported that her campaign's response was, "well, John Wayne's parents were from Waterloo, so there!"

So, please don't invoke a false equivalency.

Apologize to Ms. Bachmann, who has categorically denied being a flake. Apologize.

15. She was interviewed on BookTv this weekend for her summer reading list.
She said she was reading "Pilgrims Progress" and that it was "charming".

Right, the whole dense allegory packed with dry-as-dust, 17th Century politics is "charming" to her. She probably can't tell Apollyon from her elbow.

20. It looks like someone did a 'Paul Revere' revision on that page
I can't sort out when the edits were made, but it now appears someone went in and edited it to fit Bachmann's quote.
