Jury agrees on 18 counts in Blagojevich trial

CHICAGO — More than two years after his arrest while still in office, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will hear the verdict in his corruption retrial Monday, after jurors informed the judge that they had reached agreement on 18 of the 20 counts against him.

"My hands are shaking, my knees are weak, I can barely stand on my own two feet," Blagojevich said as he left his house on the way to the courthouse to hear the verdict. "It's in God's hands, now."

The jury had returned to the federal courthouse in Chicago on Monday after nine days of deliberations. They had been talking over the evidence in the case over a three-week period.

Blagojevich, 54, has denied all wrongdoing, including allegations that he sought to sell or trade an appointment to President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat.
