2. yes sort of
I got corralled to fill a line on the town ballot, only it turned out I wasn't actually a registered Democrat, so I sort of failed to run at the very last moment.

I run and let the voters decide if my fugitive, ugly, speech-fobic youth was misspent.

(although I wasn't born in Hawaii)

5. Yes, but it was sort of like running to be on the school yearbook
I believe my name appeared on the ballot as a delegate to the state Democratic convention (it was probably as part of a slate). I won. I went to the state convention. It was fun. The end.

10. Yes, and I lost big-time.
Ran for mayor once, just to provide an alternative choice to the good-ol' boy network.

The good ol' boys won.

11. I'm not a good lier, con artist or delusional conservative.
Plus I live in Arizona where right wing media and stupidity reigns supreme.

17. 43% of Those Who Responded to the Poll
Just about anyone on DU who has run for political office, and saw this poll, would respond to it.

The rest of us, not so much.

Me, run for office? :eyes:

Edited on Mon Jun-27-11 12:53 PM by slackmaster
We did quite well considering our severely limited budget plus the popularity and demographics of the candidate who ended up winning.

18. Other...no...for a few reasons....
1. Seedy/embarrassing/painful past I don't want anyone digging around in.

2. Social Phobia disorder. Anxiety disorders. Panic disorder.

3. Don't feel qualified.

4. Politics involves a fair amount of ass-kissing. I am not a good ass-kisser. An even worse liar. I would fail miserably in politics.
