Heartbreaking: American Children saying what
it's like being hungry on 60 Minutes. We need more MSM news shows exposing this disgrace so that those Republicans who are cutting jobs, wages and social programs get their noses rubbed in it.

:grr:

1 in 4 children live in poverty...is that just Florida, or nationwide? Please don't tell me it is the latter.

2. Good news! Soon their grandparents will be hungry, too!
With the coming cuts in Social Security. Hunger can now bring the whole family together.

(How the fuck did things come to this. Blows my mind.)

3. With all their effing pretentious "morals"
What would "Jaysus" think of the starving children in this "richest country in the world" (for some) - hmmm? And what would "Gawd" think of their penchant for wanting to create MORE starving children?

5. I don't know about this "Jaysus" but..
Jesus would be appalled. You need to realize that not every Christian is a Republican and not everything the GOP does represents Christianity.
I'm voting against the right wing as much as any of you.
Don't attack the folks who are on the same side as you.

6. Nobody's attacking you, just the stingy SOBs
who tell us they own Jesus lock stock and barrel and that the rest of us are going to hell while they make sure more and more people start the process of slow starvation in the "richest" country in the world.

Mainstream Christians did drop the ball over the last 100 years by not forcibly repudiating this really pernicious brand of Calvinism that the right wing clings to. It's heresy and should have been denounced as such from every single pulpit.

That it wasn't in favor of a false Christian solidarity with people who are in opposition to everything Jesus taught is why Christians on our side are now facing a lot of anger they don't deserve individually.

14. "Mainstream" is a catch all term.
And I'm sure plenty of Christian individuals were and are appalled by right wing antics as I am.
I expect they wouldn't like being lumped with right wingers any more than I.
The big problem is the constant attacks on the faith only really serve to strengthen the right.
I'm pretty determined to not vote GOP due to the consequences of their actions, no matter what others may have to say or feel about Christianity.
However, some may not be so staunchly suspicious of right wing conservatism as I, the GOP will no doubt welcome their votes.
I'm sure some quip or remark is personally satisfying, but if that ends up putting the Republicans back in the White House or in control of the Senate as well as the House, that would sure be a case of biting off one's nose to spite one's face.

19. It's also a useful one, dear.
It's high time the mainstream Christians own the problem caused by years of either ignoring or welcoming these heretics who were and are against everything Christ taught.

Individuals might have been appalled, but they said and did nothing for a hundred years. The clergy were all worse, they should have done something.

Now you're being tarred with the same brush.

And you complain about the word "mainstream."

30. Sorry, I'm not 100 years old, feels like it sometimes though.
And there's the problem, which individuals are you going to judge for other individual's actions?
Calling everyone "mainstream" still doesn't give you or anyone the right to assign guilt.
Same with the clergy, some are activist and have been on top of this issue from the beginning, others are just worried about their collection plate and if they can afford the next new Lexus.
As for myself, I've tarred a few roofs before, it taught me to be careful just where you sling that stuff at.
I've never tarred a person, except maybe myself.

21. The religious don't have a special obligation to feed the poor in this society.
You're scapegoating. This is our responsibility.

23. They do by their dogma and the teaching of their god.
But yes, churches have never been able to keep up with the real demand. It's our obligation as a civil society to do that.

However, that wasn't what the post was about. I suggest you read it again.

26. And as for the secular credo of our government and society?
Being non-religious gives us a special pass when caring for our fellow man?

It's a ridiculous argument that harms the speaker more than the target.

17. I think the post was satirizing hypocrites, not Christians
I.e. the types of people who use the names of God and Jesus to justify greed, selfishness and harshness.

I'm not a religious believer myself, but there are plenty of statements in the Bible that I'd have thought would make a Christian-Rightie feel rather uncomfortable. Jesus says very explicitly that those who refuse to feed the hungry or give drink to the thirsty will go to eternal punishment: 'what you did not unto the least of these, you did not unto Me'. And Isaiah 32 could be describing the right-wingers in the following verses: 'For the scoundrel will speak like a scoundrel and will hatch evil in his heart; he is an impostor in all his actions, and in his words a liar even to the LORD; he starves the hungry of their food and refuses drink to the thirsty. The villain's ways are villainous and he devises infamous plans to ruin the poor with his lies and deny justice to the needy.'

bring it to the forefront so that our elected legislators couldn't ignore it any longer. I don't understand why they wouldn't even do this as a campaign issue unless they are afraid of not getting the campaign funds they count on. I haven't noticed today any of our progressive radio or TV going with it so far today.

24. If those rich fat cats could understand
what it's like to go without...if they could live like these people for just one day--they might not be so heartless.

I'm not sure they can really understand if they see it on TV. And some rich people are so selfish that it makes them feel good when others are hurting. They know their policies are working. I have seen them.

33. Uhm, this is the PLAN...
The One-Worlders WANT America to be taken down to a third-world level of development. I see nothing on population reduction from 'the left' anymore, even though it used to be the CORNERSTONE of the environmental movement. The power elite are pushing this agenda, democrat or retardican. Elite are elite, they work both sides.
