Jersey Shore Beaches...

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — New Jerseyans have to put up with taxes, tolls, toxic waste and, occasionally, Snooki. So an occasional trip to the beach is all that keeps some folks here sane.

Now officials in the nation’s most densely populated state are rewriting public beach access rules that could make it easier for well-to-do towns to keep out-of-towners off their beaches — and a sandstorm is brewing.

The state says it had to act and give more local control over access after a court decision struck down more stringent rules that spelled out uniform standards for each shore town. The state feels it can accomplish more by working with shore towns and giving them flexibility rather than dictating a “one-size-fits-all” access policy to them.

But many beachgoers fear the new rules, if adopted, would reward the very people who have made it so hard for outsiders to reach the beach for decades.

Read the entire article...The rich don't want outoftowners on their beaches. The ocean belongs to everyone.

1. you make a statement of an axiom.
The rich don't want outoftowners on their beaches

That is based on an axiom of claim of ownership. You must first ask if that is correct.

That same axiom was used to defend slavery. The deeper axioms of an argument are often the problems in someones positions, what they assume to be true, to then use to defend their position.

That is a house built on a bad foundation.

So show the axiom is wrong, and then they can rebuild if they want.

And I am due beer and travel money, a solid foundation.

4. The shore is greatly dependent on the summer season. When married
my husband owned a very profitable bar and restaurant a block off the beach. This was the time the insurances were paid and any large bills were paid and tuitions were set aside. Everyone from the hot dog guy, all vendors, this is the economy for this part of the state. They've been building McMansions at the shoreline and the owners resent that others than the locals are enjoying "their" beach. This has been in courts over and over again. The ocean belongs to all, if you build there you have to put up with it. Selfish, selfish people. My repub uncle wanted to park his car in our parking lot for customers. Would have been alright if he was a customer but he never came in for a beer. He and I had it out right there in the parking lot. Don't get me started...LOL.

6. One thing I love about my home state is that every inch of coastline is owned by the state
and not one bit of beach can ever fall into private hands. Yay Oregon!

11. Not ACY, but LBI relies upon tourists and visitors from PA, NY, and elsewhere
I've never understood the outright hatred the BUSINESSES have towards people coming in...and it is hatred

Look..I understand that if you live there it must be a pain in the ass to deal with all of the traffic, but look at where you live for fucks sake! If you wanted solitude, you started your business or moved to the wrong part of the state!

13. I personally would not want solitude.
Although have had much solitude during times of reflection and learning.

Although I don't think solitude is healthy.

18. Well, in that case, they can kiss a big chunk of tourism $$$ goodbye.
Edited on Sun Jun-26-11 09:18 PM by DinahMoeHum
and they can also kiss a lot of their businesses goodbye as the out-of-towners will take their $$$ elsewhere.

Piss on them.
