Getting Misty: A man and his dog cool off under a dry mist shower at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo.(JPNTimes)

Nature-rich Chichijima island, part of the Ogasawara island chain about 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo, is surrounded by blue ocean in this photo taken on June 21, 2011. The Ogasawara Islands, a habitat for rare animals and plants in the western Pacific, have been named by the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a World Heritage Site. (Mainichi)

1. AsahinaKimi, it is good to see your photos and updates from Japan
I do like these two, the man/the dog/the mister. What a heartening image! And Chichijima is breathtakingly beautiful. A friend has relatives in Sindai and following the awful events of 3/11 it took awhile for her to contact them. When she did they were, thankfully, okay and devoted themselves to those who did not fare so well. For some time my friend who lives in NY shared the e-mail exchanges with her family, but lately I've not been in contact. I am glad to see your posts with current information.

Many thanks!

2. Before I read the caption I thought he was carrying a dead dog out of the wreckage.
I guess it pays to read the caption.

7. Like the others, I'm glad that the dog was just cooling off.
As for the second pic, what a beautiful place. I would like to see it some day.
