Andrew Cuomo's courageous actions sure beat "my position is evolving and can I please have your money."

1. I hope Cuomo continues to grow as Gov.
Loved his father and I hope to see more from him as time passes. I'm so happy he stepped up on this...

As for the President...I'll leave it unsaid.

2. You know the funny thing
A month ago on a long drive I was thinking about the potential for a charismatic governor gaining national recognition for a brave and public marriage equality stand, and later using that recognition to run for president.

Andrew Cuomo is a civil rights hero, and has shown himself to be a strong executive and a man of conviction. That goes a long way.

5. I'm curious to see what the future holds for him
It was a stand that needed to be taken, and I am glad he had the strength to do it.

I have heard of him referred to as socially progressive and fiscally conservative - which is similar to my views. That mindset can generate a lot of heat from both ends of the Democratic spectrum. He seems to have the strength of character to work for what he believes in. There is no telling where that may lead him. :)

3. He was committed to it. He fought for it and worked
to get it done. And he demonstrated that even with a Republican Majority if you are committed to something that is right, you can overcome the obstacles. When you are passionate about something, it is catching and others are influenced by that passion.

All the excuses we hear about why things can't be done, even when we have a majority, are just that, excuses.

He convinced people, even some who were the most unlikely to be convinced, and the president could do the same. IF he wanted to.

It was an historical achievement.

I'm so happy for all those who have been denied their civil rights. I can only imagine the joy they must feel tonight.

10. I would take him as well. Brown is probably the most 'liberal' governor in the country right now.

However NY is a different place. Very different political atmospherics.

For myself, I was still trying to get past Spitzers blunders and then Weiner steps into the same pile.

For now, I am hiding out in MA. Deval Patrick has been a good governor. Not real flashy or outspoken like Brown, but he does seem to be a methodical consistent progressive force in a state that is trying to stay blue.

7. You mean "I might accept you as equals when it's politically feasible for me" isn't
the way you're supposed to do it?

14. A fair and balance comparison, to be sure!
Because we all know that passing landmark legislation on a major hot button social issue is as easy to achieve across the entire nation as it is in one state. Uh-huh. Sure.

Oy.
