NY Marriage Equality Vote -- by the numbers

There are 62 members of the State Senate -- 32 Republicans and 30 Democrats.

Of the 30 Democrats, 29 are pledged to vote yes; one (Ruben Diaz, Sr.) will vote no.

Of the 32 Republicans, 2 have indicated they will vote yes. It is suggested that several other uncommitted or previous "no" votes may vote yes.

In the event of a 31-31 tie, the Democratic Lt. Governor will cast a tie-breeaking vote.

to think of people voting on whether or not other people should have rights.

That said, I certainly hope the legislation passes.
