A 6.7 earthquake rocked Japan today

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocked Japan today, the 75th aftershock of at least magnitude 6.0 from the devastating magnitude 9.0 quake on March 11, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake data is preliminary and subject to revision.

1. i seriously don't buy the aftershock theory
weren't there a cluster of 6's right BEFORE the big 9.0...?

just sayin' ...:scared:
...and if the stuff melted THROUGH, would that keep going till it hits magma?

3. Aftershocks aren't a "theory". They are a geologic fact of life.
Lots of 6.0's after a 9.0 are just as unremarkable as lots of 3.0's and 4.0's after Northridge. And we had plenty.

4. It is basic geology
and the cluster is considered a foreshock.

We are not to the point where we can tell when we get a foreshock though.

But the aftershocks, there is even an equation which tells you what to expect, This is pretty much in line with it.
