Indochinese Tiger Cubs at the Hanoi Zoo - info and pics

Indochinese tiger cubs play inside their cage at the Hanoi Zoo June 22, 2011. Their mother, Mi, gave birth to four cubs in the morning of April 2, 2011, becoming the first tiger at the Hanoi zoo to be born and bred in captivity. Mi was born on the same day eight years earlier, on April 2, 2003, to Lam Nhi (which mean "Child of Forest"), a tiger that was confiscated from wildlife traffickers in Vietnam's central province of Thua Thien Hue.

Indochinese Tiger

The Indochinese tiger or Corbett's tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti) is a subspecies of tiger found in Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Thailand, and Vietnam and formerly in China. Tigers in peninsular Malaysia, formerly classified as Indochinese, have recently been reclassified as a separate subspecies, Malayan tiger Panthera tigris jacksoni. The "Corbett's" name stems from the scientific name of the subspecies, Panthera tigris corbetti, which in turn is named in honor of Jim Corbett. No Indochinese tigers have been seen in China since 2007, and it is believed that the last specimen was killed and eaten by a man now sentenced to 12 years and imprisoned for the crime.

3. She is so incredibly beautiful.
It's so sad the the only remaining ones are in zoos. Her giving birth to 4 healthy cubs speaks pretty well of her keepers, imho.

:loveya:

But it's sad to see them in what amounts to protective custody, with none of their kind left in the wild. :(
