1. It was the boy's fault----they are clueless at that age. A very lucky kid.

4. I had a girl fall across the hood of my car once, when stopped at a light
She was waiting to cross with her parents with her back to the street. when the light signaled 'walk' she turned, was surprised to see my car sitting there, and fell across my hood with her face looking into the windshield. her parents gathered her up.

3. Here's my theory about why so many kids get hit by cars...
most kids take buses to school. We all know that all traffic near a stopped school bus, must stop. Kids then exit the bus and cross the street with stopped traffic all around them. Their assumption is when they are in the street all traffic must stop. They have no clue, that this is not the case. Just a theory.

5. Maybe but I think kids are just absent minded
Edited on Wed Jun-22-11 03:48 PM by laundry_queen
Their little brains are always going going going and they also tend to have a one track mind. I don't know many kids who can multi-task. So if they are concentrating on, "oh gee, I'm late I gotta get home!" They may very well forget about looking both ways before crossing the road.

But hey, maybe some kids figure that cars will just stop. I know a few years ago, they were teaching all the kids to stick out an arm to let the drivers know you want to cross the road. I guess some kids thought that meant their magic arm will stop traffic because they'd go running out onto the street with their arm out and you'd have to slam on your brakes. Things have to be spelled out to kids. If you don't teach them, they won't know.

6. In my neighborhood, it's dingbat adults that pull out in front of cars.
Lucky kid.
