Muammar Gaddafi war crimes files revealed
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/18/muammar-gaddafi-war-crimes-files

Thousands of documents that reveal in chilling detail orders from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's senior generals to bombard and starve the people of Misrata have been gathered by war crimes investigators and are being kept at a secret location at the besieged Libyan port.

The documents, some of which the Observer has seen, will form damning evidence in any future war crimes trial of the Libyan leader at the International Criminal Court. The court's prosecutors are expected to travel to the city to view the documents once the daily bombardments have ceased.

One document shows the commanding general of government forces instructing his units to starve Misrata's population during the four-month siege. The order, from Youssef Ahmed Basheer Abu Hajar, states bluntly: "It is absolutely forbidden for supply cars, fuel and other services to enter the city of Misrata from all gates and checkpoints." Another document instructs army units to hunt down wounded rebel fighters, in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions.

Plans to bombard the city are also in the archive, say investigators, who also claim they have a message from Gaddafi relayed to the troops ordering that Misrata be obliterated and the "blue sea turned red" with the blood of the inhabitants. The documents are expected to form a crucial element of any trial against Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam and his intelligence chief Abdullah Senussi if, as is expected, ICC judges confirm indictments for war crimes and crimes against humanity that are demanded by its chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo.

i care about suffering -- but supposedly we are broke and IMPOSING suffering on our own people so we can carry out these wars.
i don't want to hear any politician talk about 'shared sacrifice' or debts & deficits
as long as we are dropping bombs -- bombs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars all over holy hell.
obama, clinton, mcconell, boehner -- they can suck it.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq should stop now. They inflicted suffering - they did not prevent it.

2. Clinton (the husband) said one of his biggest regrets was not acting sooner
in Rwanda.

That probably would have resulted in some additional strife here, but I'm not sure entire populations getting hacked to death with machetes has a domestic analogue.

3. Fail. You didn't have the debt/deficit choir singing the same hymn
They're singing now.

And now we have hundreds of thousands of workers in some serious straight.
Municipalities & state barely hanging on.

Nola - still not together, major flood damage in different areas, category 5 tornadoes, & mega fires in the south west, & an economy nearing serious stagflation.

This is bull shit. We have work here that needs to keep us occupied & not occupy & bomb other peoples countries.

Obama's secretary of defense has even gone on record - too late - saying he is wary of wars of choice.

4. The reason we don't have the money for investing in the US is not because of the wars
It's because Republicans, and enough democrats to matter, refuse to invest resources to help our workers and rebuild our cities.

It's not a problem of balancing the budget, it's a problem of political will. The debt is now, and has always been, an excuse by politicians to further fuck over the working class. It was deliberately run up during the Bush years to provoke such a crisis, but it they have always banged that drum even when the debt/defecit was in much better shape under Clinton.
