Just another Gulf War vet, another encounter with the police, another death
We've heard this story before, too damned many times.

Authorities detail encounter with 'belligerent' man that ended with police shooting the Gulf War veteran

MONTCALM COUNTY – Gulf War veteran Matthew Speese had talked about killing himself, or suicide by cop.

A U.S. Marine, he was never the same after returning from the war. He brought back post-traumatic stress disorder. He had suicidal tendencies. He kept loaded long guns accessible throughout his residence in a wooded area near Howard City.

Against this backdrop, police responded to a June 1 report that Speese, described as a “wonderful father” to his two adult children, had threatened suicide, and would shoot police if they showed up. Ninety minutes later, Speese, 47, was shot and killed by police.

On Friday, Montcalm County Prosecutor Andrea Krause cleared officers in the shooting.

2. Thanks for posting this.
Truth is truth. We need it to remind us of the things that they try to make us forget.

3. There was a vet who was shot and killed by an undercover cop in a suburb close to Minneapolis.
His mom was interviewed on the news and said someone was going to give her some answers.

I didn't see or hear one more word about it. I watched and listened for weeks.

Scary and sad.

4. You know, there are just no rules for these cops. All they have to do is say they fear for their
lives and they're exonerated.

It appears that none of these cops had the bravery or courage of one dead marine.
