Republicans pontificate about jobs while laying off 700,000 teachers

The Republicans pontificate about creating jobs and then do everything in their power to lay off 700,000 teachers nationwide and probably an equal number of police and fire personnel, plus untold numbers of federal workers.

Why are they doing this? They want to blame the resulting higher unemployment on President Obama so they can defeat him next year. They couldn't care less what happens to the people affected. They couldn't care less that unemployed people don't pay taxes, thus lowering state and national revenues and making our recession worse. They are willing to sink our nation in order to defeat our president.

They claim that our national debt is so high that we cannot afford to pay these people anymore. That is utter nonsense. There are plenty of ways to reduce our debt without causing this nationwide downward spiral.

GOP willing to sink nation to prove point

1. Republicans...and Democrats are cutting.
State and local legislatures are facing some very tough choices.

5. Wrong. They are hiring recruits from teacher agencies...
to take the places of those they fired. And each recruit costs 2 to 3 thousand dollars. Arne loves him some TFA. And truth matters little.

3. Making the wrong choices
In WI our sorry excuse for a governor thinks it is OK to give outright millions to corporations and cut millions from education. WI "found" they had $684 million more money than they thought they had and wouldn't give a cent of that to off-set their cuts to education. Walker is owned by the Koch brothers and does their bidding like a good little boy.

4. Neither side is serious about the economy.
If they were, they'd cut all the military spending they could in half a second, and tax the fucking millionaires and billionaires. Budget balanced.

6. The Democrats are pushing this education reform.
The laying off of those teachers is not just Republican in nature.
