What I do with every piece of mail I get from AARP
I direct deposit it in file 13. It's the least that I can do.

They been backstabbing the elderly long enough. They went along with W's bullshit and now they want to climb aboard the Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles hatchet club band wagon.

Go face to face and eye to eye and tell a sixty year old man who's worked his life and health away in a coal mine, or worked a 40 year span of construction work, that he has to work for another ten years, so that folks like Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles can go on collecting wealth from the Bush Tax Cuts.

AARP, you can kiss my go to hell.

1. I pass the recycling can on my way back in from the mailbox.
90% of my mail never gets past that point.

2. Resistance by AARP is the primary reason SS wasn't privatized during the Second Clinton Admin.
What's changed?

11. True. SS isn't broke right now. It will be broke in about 10 years, so now is the time
to plan for shortage of funds in SS.

It will happen, I'm afraid. Increased payroll taxes, raising of the retirement age, a means test for receiving benefits (although this sounds good, this I believe will be the beginning of the end of SS, because it changes the program from I-pay-in-for-decades-then-I-get-it-back, to another tax for those-who-are-less-fortunate, like Medicaid....which means it will no longer be a social program for all).

6. They've already seen the backlash.
... and they are backtracking at full speed. I heard what the spokesman said and it was basically "well it's going to be changed so we want a place at the table to drive that change".

12. I got that, too.
And earlier in the week I got a call from them urging me to call my reps to tell them that SS cuts would be unacceptable.

Sounds like another dirty trick from Rupie.

13. I received that e-mail, too.
I felt somewhat better, based on what it said. Guess AARP must have anticipated the backlash. Nice they know we're watching!

14. AARP or Authoritarian Assholes Raping and Pillaging?
Where was the cat food commission when I was out laying in the semi frozen mud, welding semi frozen H beams to stay warm on some damned construction site northwest of BF Egypt?

"IT"S MY MONEY, AND I WANT IT NOW"!

FDR knew when a working man or woman has had enough. FDR was a democrat.

10. I've been doing that since around 2003 or so
Edited on Sat Jun-18-11 07:54 AM by pipi_k
whenever it was that AARP advocated for Bush's Medicare prescription drug plan allowing for "holes" where seniors would have to pay for their drugs.

As I recall, both Mr P and I sent them email telling them why we didn't want any more mail from them but they keep sending it anyway.

I rip it into little pieces before throwing it out. They can kiss my ass too.

15. We quit AARP when they backed *.
We deposit everything they send OR sometimes I write on their applications with a sharpie that we are democrats and not repubs and therefore not interested in their repub group, and then mail it back. I wish we still had the original AARP. :(

me off their mailing lists. I will not be giving to anyone. They are only interested in themselves.

19. I put all their crap in the reply envelope, and then
get the name and address of the President of AARPs office in DC and write that on a label and put over the address that is on the envelope.

In GREAT detail on their sign-up form I told them EXACTLY what kind of evil, greedy fuckers I thought they were and since they were responsible for Medicare Part D I WOULD NEVER use them and remove me from their mailing list immediately.

Haven't received a thing from them since.

They usually have their headquarter address somewhere on their intro letter..if not, there is google.

I also did the same thing for my hubby.

I highly recommend doing this...very satisfying...they have to pay twice for all the crap they send (you can even "save" up several mailings!) and you get aq chance to go all evil on their ass!

21. AARP is just a front for...
...one of the LARGEST and most ruthless FOR PROFIT Health Insurance Companies in the world,
United HealthCare.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

23. Write "RETURN TO SENDER", black out your address and then write
Since you agreed to cuts to social security I will not join your group.

Then they have to pay return postage AND get the message that the people aren't happy.

24. Write "Refused- Return to Sender"
makes them pay return postage.

Also, open it and send back the postage prepaid envelope - they pay for that as well.

What you put in the envelope is your choice, and empty is also an option.

They responded with some typical GOPathological liar BS which said they have public figures on their covers all the time, never mentioning the facts mentioned in my email that chimp is a war criminal.
