We can make lemonade from these lemons! Weiner will be the sacrificial lamb...
The bar has been set. From here on out whenever a politician does the slightest, we need to pounce and lock our jaws! If sending pictures like this is bad, actual sex is far worse. There is a sliding scale and the bottom of the scale is set at the Weiner level. Judging by how many Republicans vs Democrats find themselves in these messes, we're going to come out just fine. Too bad Weiner was the sacrificial lamb, but the Weiner Scale will no doubt help Democrats for generations to come.

"Squeeze me, baby, ’till the juice runs down my leg / The way you squeeze my lemon,I’m gonna fall right outta bed." — Led Zeppelin, "The Lemon Song" (the lyric can be traced back, however, to Robert Johnson’s "Traveling Riverside Blues")

1. It breaks down here:
The repubicans circle the wagons and shoot out from the circle.

The Democrats circle the wagons and shoot into the circle.

5. We don't have to accept that...
They have given us a lot of amo now. We know how to make media calls, etc. Surely we can whip up a lot of outrage and action after what they did this time.

2. Each party takes care of their own. We have set a bar for
Democrats.

Vitter is the bar for Republicans.

20. It is what it is.
No wonder we can't demand that our elected "Democrats" function as a cohesive party.

Apparently they know that they will sink or swim...alone and that leaves them available to sell out to the highest bidder or serve only themselves.

The republicans--for better or worse--would NEVER have sacrificed Weiner over this.

3. You're dreaming
Boehner can have sex with a camel, and you know what will happen? He'll get a standing ovation by the rest of the Republicans!

7. I guess that makes you a defeatist...
If you don't think it can work, kindly step out of the way and let others do the heavy lifting for you.

if sexting was around back when Plant was in his prime???

11. OMG! You read my mind!
I was a music journalist and I wrote so many double entendre, nasty as all hell stories using Plant and his sexcapades! Woooooot!

Plant would never need to text... as a woman who has been graced by having him look straight into my eyes, I can say without hesitation or reservation, that look is all he ever needed.

Oh dear... I haven't revisited that moment in a long time... pant... pant... pant... LOL!!!

22. I was too young
to see the mighty Zep live, but I did catch Plant on a solo tour and Page with The Firm back in the 80's.

Magic.

Yeah some of the lyrics were sophomoric, but the music rocked.

25. Same here...
My mom said no when I was 16, then my boyfriend said no (should have never asked his permission! doh! ) when I was 18, then he was offered a ticket to the same show and went... I should have seen the light right there and then! But I was front and center at a Robert Plant show in 1990... swoon! I stood in shock after the show ended... a security guy had to tell me to leave... I said, yeah, yeah... can't you see I've just had a religious experience!?!?!

:D

12. That's where we can help!
We now have the perfect tool to whip up a mighty outrage... and we have lists and lists of media contacts... and still more lists of Congressional names, faxes, phone numbers, emails... we can do this.

10. Actually, the entire business won't have all that much of
an effect at all. It's over, and Weiner will be forgotten in a month. Moving on...

We can forget for now, but just wait another five months until the next sexcapade comes to light.

15. Me too!
I want to see a politician's intellect, not their sexuality. I think some people just don't do well with power... it does something to their psyche.

29. That's a thought...
Chicken and egg time. There is a certain ego that requires attention and adulation, and we know that politicians really do need a massive ego to put themselves and their families through the rigors of running for and holding office. I think you could be onto something. That said, how much self-control does it take to keep your clothes on?

31. My father once said to me that nobody who sought high
political office should be allowed to hold it. His opinion was based on his perception that people who seek power are often not the most ethical and moral people that can be found. I often tend to agree with him, although I continue to hold out hope that his warning isn't always true.

I believe that some politicians, perhaps even the majority, are upright, honest, ethical people. I have, as examples, Al Franken and my congresswoman Betty McCollum. I know both of them, and have seen no sign of ethical flaws in them. I could always be mistaken, but I don't think I am. So, I still reject my father's opinion on the matter, but remember it from time to time with politicians I do not know. He's right, at least some of the time.
