Lethal Weapon 2: Riggs and Murtaugh are inside the container filled with money and the car. Murtaugh says that there are millions...billions of dollars. Riggs says, take some, use it for your kids schooling, put it to good use.

The next shot is the car exiting thru the container doors and the money going flying everywhere into the harbor.

Now interestingly, you don't see whether Murtaugh takes any of the dough. You would 'hope' and presume that he didn't, but there's that little question in your mind - if you're paying enough attention.

Now let me ask the rhetorical "you": You're sitting in the middle of the desert in Iraq and there's a pile of money, all in 100's the size of a 1960's Cadillac sitting in front of you. What do you do? How much sanctimony is there out there?

I betcha bygollywow that not all of the money made it to the intended Swiss bank accounts...

2. 'Iraq was awash in cash. We played football with bricks of $100 bills'
At the beginning of the Iraq war, the UN entrusted $23bn of Iraqi money to the US-led coalition to redevelop the country. With the infrastructure of the country still in ruins, where has all that money gone? Callum Macrae and Ali Fadhil on one of the greatest financial scandals of all time

~

Because the Iraqi banking system was in tatters, the funds were placed in an account with the Federal Reserve in New York. From there, most of the money was flown in cash to Baghdad. Over the first 14 months of the occupation, 363 tonnes of new $100 bills were shipped in - $12bn, in cash. And that is where it all began to go wrong.

"Iraq was awash in cash - in dollar bills. Piles and piles of money," says Frank Willis, a former senior official with the governing Coalition Provisional Authority. "We played football with some of the bricks of $100 bills before delivery. It was a wild-west crazy atmosphere, the likes of which none of us had ever experienced."

I'll ALWAYS remember this article.

6. I know a guy who was in disbursement in Iraq.
The local tribal elders would line up in front of his tent, which was stacked full of those bundles- floor to ceiling. Their names would be checked off the list and he would hand them a grocery bag full of those bundles.

All day long, every day.

He told me that there were Army guards who went back to the States with millions of those dollars.

10. So Iraqui tribal elders were bought off
with oodles of American tax dollars. Do you know for what exactly they were handed all that cash?

I'm trying to wrap my head around the reasoning here. Thank you for posting.

5. I'd take the money and take a picture of my penis with the money as a backdrop.

Then I'd send the picture in a FB message to my entire HS graduating class.

;-)

I think all the threads lately have messed with my mind.
