Using the "Vitter should resign too argument"
forces the Dem leaders to call for Weiners resignation.

They can't say, you keep Vitter, we keep Weiner.

They can't say we'll get rid of Weiner when you get rid of Vitter, because it's an implausible argument and makes Dems look like the actions of both are acceptable.

What they can say is, we'll get rid of Weiner and you get rid of Vitter and make them look like hypocrites.

So, if you really really want Weiner to stay, quit this argument.

I for one think Weiner needs to go and if they can make the republicans look bad by calling for Weiners resignation while the Republicans did not and will not call for Vitters, Dems should go for it.

2. It also makes them seem equivalent - Vitter conducted illegal activity. Weiner did not.

3. I would agree, conditionally

There must be a full investigation of all lawmaker correspondence, by any vehicle/means of communication since vitter's story broke. All suspects who have committed any similar or related acts must, by mandate resign. Every stinking one of the hypocrites.
"Getting rid" of either vitter or Weiner accomplishes Nothing. So. if we are going to demand purity, then that demand must apply to All of them. Period.

Oh, and exactly What crime did Weiner commit?

4. The False Equivelency Games...
It's one the corporate media loves to play...but also those who are trying to justify one bad thing with another. As my mother said "two wrongs don't make a right". It's up to the voters of the district or state to hold the ultimate judgement. And the fine folks in the State of Louisiana knowing full well about Vitter's diapers situation still re-elected the scumbag. It's not the place for a party or the corporate media to force out any elected representative. That's up to the people in his district...and he should not only ignore what Pelosi or Preebus or DU is saying...the only people that matter are his constituents.

5. It is all too clear: How often and I do hope you counted the
number of times a Reporter said: No one is standing with
Weiner. Weiner has no friends. They do not like him. Or
some version of these.

Some even explained that when Clinton was in the throes
of his problem, he garnered support.

The moral of the story is Republicans had Vitter's back.
When the story broke it was not an endless day after day
day story. Even if not in public Republicans circle the
wagons and let Media know haw far they can go. Likewise,
Ensign.

Since there were no Members of Congress telling them to
back off and let the Ethics Committee do its job, the
Media went ahead full throttle.

In Congress Friends take care of Friends.

Forget Vitter -- Each Party handles things differently..
