24. the thing is, when the republicans denigrate a democrat on "moral" or "ethical" ground,
it's not about the victim. as with most actions of politicians, particularly republicans, it's all about them.

if they can get weiner kicked out, of course they're thrilled, but they have no illusions about a conservative republican taking over that district anytime soon.

what they get out of it is simply that they get to puff themselves up and take on the image of a great force for morality. it makes THEM look GOOD and it allows compels their constituents to support THEM, lest they risk being taken as supporting his immoral target of the moment.

it's just the usual, sick, base, petty, self-serving politics republicans are famous for.

and all the while, the country falls to pieces.

5. LOL! I have noticed young women leaving comments like "handsome" on his
facebook page, ever since the scandal broke, LOL. Well, I do have to agree with the young ladies who post that. Not that I have any business having an opinion, of course.

8. I am more forgiving of this type of thing than actual sex with hookers or interns.
Can a man do what Weiner was doing and still be a good husband? Personally, I think so.

Can he still be a good Congressman? Of course.

16. And I don't give a damn who or what they have sex with
As long as the age is legal and consent is mutual.

I'm not howling for hypocrite dick idiot Vitter to resign, either. Louisiana would just re-elect him or find someone weirder.

If, however, I found out he failed to pay the prostitute, that would be something else entirely.

Now I'm going to marinate meat.

18. I agree with your first statement. I think your question about his being a good husband
is none of our business, just between him and his wife. The last question about being a good Congressperson, I agree that he can.

25. Anything involving Breitbart and Issa is going to make me suspicious...
and support Weiner or just about any Dem until I get *all* the facts. Seems that many DUers haven't learned from the havoc wrought (wreaked?) by Richard Mellon Scaife back in the '90s, and here it is, fucking 2011...

10. This scandal is not over..
There are new reports of a 17 year old girl.. see Drudge if you are interested in reading more..

DEVELOPING: NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Police on Friday afternoon came to the home of a 17-year-old high school junior to ask her about direct online communications she has had with Rep. Anthony Weiner. Two officers from the New Castle County Police Department arrived at the girl's home around 4:30 p.m. and asked to speak with the girl's mother about the daughter's contact with Weiner. Another officer appeared at the home a short time later. A FoxNews.com reporter was at the home when the police arrived.

15. if there is any connection to a story I was reading last week
before all this broke. The girl and mother were being harassed by the right wing bloggers. Both professed their admiration to Weiner and claimed he did nothing wrong.

We'll just have to wait and see.

27. part of it is media backlash
the same thing happened with republicans and Clinton. there is a point where people will agree what they did was bad, wrong etc. but then it becomes too much . people say yeah he shouldn't have done it but it's not some horrible offense and in the end it is still a private matter.

also the fact that his wife wants him to remain in congress helps.
