Chris Christie Anti-Union Bill In New Jersey Would Restrict Collective Bargaining Rights

New Jersey's Republican governor and Democratic state Senate president reached a deal Wednesday on legislation that would make public employees pay more for pension and health benefits, but Assembly Democrats refused to go along, leaving the bill's prospects in doubt.

The deal, which would have to be passed by both houses, is intended to shore up the underfunded systems by requiring bigger contributions from all public workers beginning July 1, a person who has been briefed told The Associated Press. The person insisted on anonymity because the deal has not been made official.

It also would mean that public workers' health benefits would be legislated, not negotiated, as they are now. Gov. Chris Christie has been pushing for legislative changes; union leaders have been opposed.

"This proposal destroys collective bargaining," said Hetty Rosenstein, state director of the Communication Workers of America, which has 55,000 state and local members. "It's completely unaffordable for anybody – it does not one thing to actually save health care dollars, all it does is shift them."

1. Of course it will, the whole idea behind these Union busting bills
is to get rid of Unions so all states can be right
to work states. Businesses can then pay as little
as they desire in the way of salaries and benefits.

When they praise Texas what is the first point.
Right to Work States are business friendly states.

The Governor of Ohio said from the beginning --we
have to be competitive. Companies move from our
state to right to work states.

Just a reminder as America embraces the RW Vision.
Right to Work States Have the highest poverty rates,
lowest in Nation in Education Rankings. --47 48 49 50.
Health care most inadequate unless you are upper income.
Lower Salaries mean lower quality of life.

The struggle against Union Busting must be approached
from a broader view than just Teachers. Absolutely
no disrespect for teachers.

4. Tennessee Is ALREADY a Right-To-Work State
And teachers were just stripped of their collective bargaining power.

Among the details of the new law here, the union can still collect dues, but it cannot use dues for political contributions. The same day that bill was signed into law, another that erased limits on corporate contributions to state races got inked, too.

This is about transferring what's left of whatever power the working class has, and giving it all to the leisure class.

5. Vito Won't Give a Shit
Until workers wake up and realize that Vito is happy to collect their dues, anyway.
