Unemployment benefits fading away
June 9, 2011: 9:54 AM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Even though the nation's jobless rate is on the rise, millions of people could see their unemployment checks stop coming at the end of the year.

Nearly all Americans who find themselves out of work starting next month will likely receive only 26 weeks of state unemployment checks -- at most.

Why? Because the deadline to file for extended federal benefits expires at the end of the year.

"Most people who lose their jobs after July 1... won't be eligible for federal unemployment benefits," said George Wentworth, senior staff attorney at the National Employment Law Project.

2. It's a shitstorm waiting to happen
This is one area Obama had better not ignore. Those unemployed folks have the TIME to protest. And when they realize even that avenue of help is leaving --

5. if this goes away with NO fight from Dems --they too will be blamed
Someone in the white House needs to have a testicular implant.

the American public will not place the blame solely on the pukes -- and anyone who thinks that needs to have their cranial impaction treated soon.

7. Of Course Obama and the Democrats Will be Blamed
Edited on Thu Jun-09-11 12:42 PM by AndyTiedye
That is why the Repigs can block everything with impunity. They are teflon.
They never get blamed for anything. The media will always give them a pass.

That is also why there is very little chance they can be persuaded to back down.

The Democrats, including Obama, haven't got anything to 'fight' with.

12. Hence, many that were going on and on about the tax cut extension were mostly pushing
for their pennies on the dollar.
