I had always wondered why Scotland Yard was so willing to participate in the coverup of the phone hacking story in England. I know that Murdoch's papers were paying for tips (illegal) but I thought the police who did the coverup did it for the fame that being in Murdoch's papers brought. Then, after they closed the case and Murdoch hired the chief police guy who had led the investigation as a "writer" I kinda thought the cops did the coverup for money AND fame.

Now I see that Murdoch's minions were hacking the phones of the very police who were investigating the hacking in the first place. Why would a policeman suddenly turn his back on his profession and his ethics? Because someone had been listening to their private messages and phone conversations. Murdoch also employed people who were hacking emails so this is also a possibility.

Blackmail makes much more sense. "Do what Newscorp wants and we will give you money and fame. Don't do Rupert Murdoch's bidding and we will expose all your private information." Now, that makes much more sense to me.

This is an excellent article and now brings a second Murdoch investigator front and center. If the one minion hacked 6000 phones...just imagine how many more this second investigator hacked. This case gets bigger and bigger.

Democracy in ENgland is under attack by Murdoch. The same thing, I will bet you money, is going on here with FOX and Murdoch's US employees.

5. THe head of fox was the head of some part of Newscorp while
he was in the UK...all during the hacking era...so how can we doubt he didn't bring those skills to his US job?

4. Even the choice of hot-button issues on the right may reflect this.
Mainstreaming of GLBT persons would interfere with existing networks of extortion and bribery. You could tell the people extorting you to take a hike.
