The point of no return.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-11 08:55 PM by Safetykitten
We now are reaching the point of no return, the place where no matter what Obama does, he will not be elected. I have never been in the easy re-election of the President camp, and have maintained he will not be re-elected as an almost certainty. The things that he could do to turn this around, he will not do, and the the issues he needs to address are so out of control, it is almost laughable.

The economy is a giant clusterfuck with only the east coast getting the dire picture that has been a way of life almost since 2007 in other areas of the country. Now Obama has seen the light. It will soon be too late for him to do anything to turn this around. This now is becoming the narrative of the republicans, and by the time they get through with this, they will have the average American believing that Bush handed off a near perfect economy that was running on full steam, then the Democrats and Obama fucked it up.

Obama may have saved the banks, but he saved probably the most despised and hated sector of our economy, save for the cable company. By doing this he recieved a bonus prize; not only are the banks seen as Wall Street bad guys, he gets the full bore blame for the housing fiasco and it's utter failure to help people stay in their homes. The republicans will perversely use this, and in the bizzaro world of short memories and rewritten republican history Americans will believe that all this started with the Democrats.

Healthcare, like some other items in the economy will continue to soar. Gas, food, and other items will reach new highs, the misery index will explode. Healthcare reform will be one of the big issues, as it does not work, and is national joke. The fall of 2012 will see attack of the republicans on this ill-conceived and horrific situation. The ads will write themselves right out of the 2000 page pile of shit.

By this fall, say October, if the people do not see a very obvious improvement in the economy, we will be seeing a republican president, no matter how absurd. If he has some tricks up his sleeve, Obama better use them now. And stop with the advisory shit.

Platitudes like this don't help. we need solutions.

Edit: The marches in WI have accomplished nothing. So even if were were to march en masse (which we won't), it wouldn't change a damn thing.

4. I think he can still win, but it is going to be an all out fight to do it
A year from now I don't see the economy being much better. There still will be 9%+ unemployment, a dismal housing market, and gas will likely still be around $4 and that is assuming that there isn't a major development in the oil producing region that sends price through the roof.

Anyone who says he will easily win is deluding themselves. That said, I still feel he can win but it is not going to a cakewalk like some on here think it will be.

5. "...we will be seeing a republican president,..."
....it might not be Obama but I don't believe it will be a puke either....

....I have this strange feeling that someone, someone unknown to us right now, someone new on the political stage is going to appear....this someone will be unbelievably charismatic and intelligent and will resonate across a wide range of voters....

....most importantly, this someone will be seen as the only person capable of solving our problems to the satisfaction of the American people....this someone will be a woman of strong independent thought and conviction....

6. That Point Was When We Failed to Get 60 Democrats in the Senate (LIEberman Doesn't Count)
All the Repiglickins had to do is filibuster everything to kill the hope that swept Obama into office.

He is going to end both occupations next and take back the tax cut from the rich. Not a man or woman in America can beat him after he does that :P
